    Question x11 autostart deaktivieren?

    hi,

    mein SUSE Linus ist so eingestellt, daß x121 automatisch startet.

    Jedoch bleibt meine Kiste nach einigen Starts, keiner weiß wann und warum, beim x11 start hängen, also kann ich auch im Textmodus nix mehr machen und muß das Partitions-Image rücksichern.

    Frage: wie kann ich wärend des bootvorgangs den Start von x11 verhindern, bzw. wo kann ich den autostartmodus deaktivieren?

    Du kannst das System dazu anweisen, in einen runlevel ohne X zu booten.

    Das Runlevel kannst Du in Yast einstellen, um aber erstmal in das System zu kommen kannst Du im Lilo Boot-Prompt "linux 2" eingeben, dann kommst Du ins Runlevel 2.....

    hiya @ all

    Gegenfrage, wie aktiviere ich autostart von 'startx'. Also von X11(is doch das oda?).
    Hab SuSE Linux 7.3 Professional. Der bootet, und dann steht nur Login: da, da versucht nicht ma X11 zu starten, wenn ich mich dann einlogge, und 'startx' ausführe - startet X11 - ganz normal, keine errors kein nichts.

    Also wie aktiviere ich Autostart von X11, und wo kann ich zwischen GNOME und KDE wechseln?

    hast du schonmal in der datei /etc/rc.config nachgeschaut? da koennte sowas vielleicht auch drinstehen.

    Unter Suse 7.0 konnte man das auch über YAST einstellen. Geht das nicht mehr unter >7.0 ?
    SuSE 9.2, Pentium4 2,66 GHz, ATI Radeon 9000

    Also ich hab ja SuSE 7.3, das is xfree86 4.10 installt, also hab ich update von 4.10 auf 4.20, und dann auf 4.21. Danach noch Kernel und GLX Treiber(rpm) von NVIDIA installt. Und dann noch mit Sax2 konfiguriert. Yo, dann beim Start kommt kein Anmeldefenster, sondern nur das textbasierte einloggen...und danach nur die Befehlszeile...mit startx startet es dann...

    Aber nicht automatisch!

    jo, aber nach was ich genau schauen soll weiß ich nicht. Da stand was mit kdm, da hab ich ins buch geguckt, das war ok und sollte so sein, mehr hab ich da nich gefunden.

    Im Chat hab ich den tipp bekommen, das ich was zu /etc/init.d/rc5.d linken soll. Hab da aber nich wirklich ein Plan darüber...

    Hab versucht in der boot.local startx einzutragen, ging aber nicht, beim booten sagte er das der befehl unbekannt is...
