    wieso machst du das "RTCW" !!! :(

    hi ich hab ein kleines problem mit RTCW.

    immer wenn ich das spiel zocken will und im gamemenue ein spiel starte (ob multiplayer oder singleplayer) springt RTCW zurück in die linux console. ich kann mir nicht erklären warum. Quake 3 kann ich ohne probleme zocken, genau wie viele andere spiele auch (Heretic 2, UT, SimCity). ich hab hier mal den letzten teil der consolen ausgabe. vielleicht könnt ihr mir ja helfen.

    Hallo,

    würde mich mal interessieren ob du den Fehler finden konntest. Ich habe momentan das selbe Problem und alles was hilft, ist das deaktivieren er Soundkarte (Probs mit Via-Onboard-Sound und AC97). Aber ohne Sound ists auch nicht so richtig lustig :-(

    hi,
    könnt ihr mir mal die komplette konsolenausgabe geben, wenn ihr das Spiel startet. Startet mal über die Konsole und beendet angschließend wieder und postet die komplette Ausgabe.

    bis auf's Soundsystem sieht doch alles gut aus.
    1. Mal ein paar Fragen. Was für einen Soundtreiber benutzt du? OSS oder ALSA?
    2. Benutzt du noch einen anderen Soundserver/daemon, z.B. aRTs?

    Bei mir sieht das mit dem Sound so aus:
    OSS und aRTs - und alles ist perfekt (so sieht das im Moment auch bei mir aus)
    OSS ohne aRTs - kein Sound
    ALSA mit aRTS - nur Sound nach aRTs Neustart, wenn der Sound einmal benutzt wurde, geht's nicht mehr
    ALSA ohne aRTS - hab ich vergessen, was dann passiert :P

    Ich benutzt ALSA, da es mit OSS leider keine Unterstützung für den VIA8233-Chipsatz gibt.
    artsd tirfft nicht zu, da ich GNOME nutze. Der ESD-Daemon läuft zwischenzeitlich, lässt sich auch nicht ganz beenden.

    Hmm, ich setze den gleich mal auf nicht ausführbar und probiers noch mal :-)

    Apropos, die Meldung beim Sound ist ja seltsam, woher kommt dann dann der Klang in den Menüs? *wunder*

    ich hatte auch probleme mit dem via8233-chipsatz. falls du suse 8.0 verwendest, könnte dir ein update des alsa-paketes helfen.

    Super, ich sollte halt nicht posten und am System stricken ;-)

    Ich hatte zu dem Zeitpunkt gerade meinen ALSA-Treiber zerschossen, die Meldung war also nur logisch. Jetzt initialisiert der Sound wunderbar.
    Trotzdem schmiert das Spiel jetzt nach mehr oder weniger langer Spielzeit kommentarlos ab. Als Meldung erscheint nur "Received signal 11 - exiting..."

    Der Alsa-Treiber sollte der neueste sein (0.90-rc2).

    hab auch nur das prob mit

    aber ich frag mich ernsthaft wieso
    quake3 kann ich einwandfrei spielen. rtcw basiert auf quake3 und das ist warum ich es nicht verstehe, das rtcw nicht laufen will.

    Habe gerade noch den Tip gefunden, in der jeweiligen Konsole "unset LD_PRELOAD" einzugeben und dann das Spiel zu starten.
    Das soll teilweise auch zu Abstürzen geführt haben.

    Und wenn man http://zerowing.idsoftware.com/linux...dex.html#hints glaubt, dann gibt es in der Kombination VIA-Chipset und AC97-Codec sowieso Probleme. Der dort angegebene Treiber ist sollte allerdings in aktuellen 2.4er Kerneln sowieso schon enthalten sein.

    Eine Sache, die man in Erwägung ziehen sollte, ist das Tribes2 recht viele Fehler hat, und Eure Abstürze nicht oder nur indirekt mit Euren Systemen zu tun haben.
