    USB-Stick

    Ich habe ein USB-Stick gekauft. Es wird unter Ubuntu 18.04.3 LTS nicht erkannt. Stick ist ok. Andere Sticks werden auch nicht erkannt.
    Was tun?

    Ich bin absoluter Laie. Mit dmesg sind zu viele Daten (109000) erschienen.

    Was bedeutet eigentlich "Nicht erkannt"?

    Kommt kein automatisches Fenster mit dem Inhalt? Wenn nein, ist auch nicht bei allen Distros so.

    Wird der Stick denn im Dateimanager aufgelistet?

    Ich denke, Ubuntu ist hier das Problem. Bei meinem Ubuntu werden die auch nicht automatisch gemountet, aber im Dateimanager werden sie angezeigt und durch einen Klick dann auch gemountet nach /media/[Username]/[Stickname].

    Meldung beim Einsetzen vom USB-Stick:

    Ich glaube ich update das System auf 18.10

    Schlechte Idee. Für 18.10 gibt es keine Sicherheitsupdates mehr.

    Man kann doch stattdessen die EXFAT-Paket nachinstallieren.

    Die Info von Stefan bezüglich Ubuntu 18.10 hast Du gesehen? Ubuntu bringt alle 6 Monate ein neues Release raus, aber nur alle 2 Jahre eins, das lange mit Sicherheitsupdates versorgt wird. Du hast mit 18.10 eins erwischt, das nur kurze Zeit Updates bekommt. Daher solltest Du jetzt immer auf ein neues Release wechseln, wenn eins erscheint (hast immer 3 Monate Zeit), und zwar so lange bis Du bei 20.04 angekommen bist.

    18.04 - 5 Jahre
    18.10 - 9 Monate
    19.04 - 9 Monate
    19.10 - 9 Monate
    20.04 - 5 Jahre

    Mit 20.04 hast dann Du für lange Zeit Ruhe. :-)

    edit: Ach ja, falls das nicht selbsterklärend ist - die Zahl vor dem Punkt steht für's Jahr, die dahinter für den Monat. Es geht also aktuell nur bis 19.10 (darauf kannst Du sofort updaten), dann musst Du warten bis April 2020, denn erst dann erscheint 20.04.
