GeForce 8600 GTS 3 Monitore ?

Hallo!
Habe an meiner GeForce 8600 GTS 2 Monitore am laufen. Einmal über VGA und DVI. Kann ich da jetzt über HDMI noch einen 3 anschließen ?

Unter nvidia- settings wird der 3 auch erkannt, ist aber disable.

Arbeite hier mit suse 11.1

also so viel ich weiß gehen immer nur 2 gleichzeitig maximal, für einen 3. bräuchtest du ne 2. Karte

Wie bluesky bereits sagte, brauchst du dafür eine zwei Grafikkarte. Ich hab hier so ein Setup laufen.

Etwas ärgerlich ist dabei, das Twinview nur über zwei Monitore funktioniert. Wenn du mehr als 2 Monitore mit Twinview fahren möchstest, brauchst du eine Karte aus dem Profisegment zu entsprechenden Preisen. Die Modelle dort können mit 4 Monitoren umgehen. Aber auch dann hat man Spss, wenn man verschiedene Auflösungen fährt. Ich hätte sonst z.B. unsichtbare Streifen da der eine Monitor größer ist als der andere...

Was aber geht sind drei seperate X Displays. So habe ich das hier laufen. Dadurch hast du dann drei einzelnen Desktops.
Zwar kann man auch via Xinerama alle Monitore zu einem Schirm zusammenfassen, aber dann kann man afaik keine composite Extension einsetzen und hat keinen 3D Desktop. Ausserdem frisst Xinerama + 3 Monitore gehörig Ressourcen.

Xinerama in Verbindung mit Twinviewgeht übrigend auch nicht..

Die Sache mit Twinview ist schon blöd, bin aber erst einmal froh wenn ich überhaupt 3 am laufen habe ;-)

Ja, aber damit schaltest du die Karten rechenmäßig parellel - äußerst wahrscheinlich hast du dann halt immer noch nur 2 Ausgänge zur Verfügung.

So. habe mir jetzt noch eine 8600 GTS zugelegt.

Habe zwei als TwinView am laufen und den 3 als Separate X screen.

Der Dritte bleibt schwarz !
Gehe ich da mit der Maus "rein" sehe ich ein Kreuz, dass war es auch schon.

Die anderen funktionieren.
Würde die aber lieber als Xinerama laufen lassen, was nicht geht....mhhhh....

Ich konfiguriere es mit NVIDIA Settings.
Was mir unter Xserver Display Configuration auffällt ist das der dritte
Monitor "sandgelb" dargestellt wird.

Die anderen sind alle hellblau !

Soll mir das was sagen ?

Wie hier bereits gesagt wurde, funktioniert die Kombination von Xinerama und Compiz nicht. Entweder können alle drei Monitore 3d-beschleunigt und mit Xinerama genutzt werden, oder ohne Xinerama aber mit den Compiz-Effekten; dann sind bei drei Monitoren entweder zwei oder drei separate X-Screens möglich.
Bei zwei X-Screens können zwei Monitore mittels TwinView zusammengefasst werden, was prinzipiell den Xinerama-Effekten entspricht: Fenster können über beide maximiert, und beliebig hin- und hergeschoben werden. Nur der dritte Monitor bleibt dann ein extra X-Screen, mit eigenen Fenstern.
Werden drei X-Screens verwendet, bleibt jeder Monitor für sich, daher ist die Nutzung von TwinView und einem separaten X-Screen am praktischsten.

Das beschriebene Verhalten zeigt eigentlich, dass die xorg.conf schon genau das liefert: Zwei Monitore nutzbar (sollten mit TwinView laufen (also den vergleichbaren "Xinerama"-Effekten für diese beiden Monitore), ansonsten liegt das an einem Dreher in der xorg.conf, s.u.) mit Hintergrundgrafik und allem, und der dritte ist schwarz. Da aber das "Maus-Kreuz" erscheint, wenn man mit der Maus in den Monitor "fährt", bedeutet das, dass die Konfiguration richtig ist!

Ein X-Screen ist nichts weiter als ein Bildschirm mit eben dieser Interaktionsschnittstelle. Alles andere macht erst der Fenstermanager, hier ist die weitere Konfiguration von der verwendeten Umgebung abhängig, z.B. KDE oder GNOME. Alles, was noch gemacht werden muss, ist der Desktop-Umgebung zu sagen, dass sie auf dem separaten X-Screen ebenfalls einen Fenstermanager startet. Das kann zum Beispiel kwin bei KDE sein, oder auch ein weiterer compiz mit den bekannten hübschen Effekt-Möglichkeiten.

Ausprobieren, ob die Monitore (bzw. die Screens!) alle richtig konfiguriert sind, kann man ganz einfach, indem man auf der Konsole eingibt:

xeyes -display :0.0
xeyes -display :0.1

Im ersten Fall startet xeyes auf dem ersten konfigurierten X-Screen, im zweiten Fall auf dem anderen - auch wenn man dort aufgrund fehlender Startleiste noch nichts direkt anklicken kann ;-) Sind also die "xeyes" auf dem sonst schwarzen Monitor zu sehen, stimmt die Konfiguration.

Wie auch immer ist die gezeigte xorg.conf durch die vielen Auto-Änderungen völliges Chaos.
Insbesondere ist nicht klar, welcher der Monitore doppelt vorhanden ist? Zwei LG an einer GraKa, oder zwei Hansol? Auch wenn der Hansol doppelt in der Monitor-Section steht, bedeutet das hier noch nichts. Da nur die "Screen0" und "Screen1"- Definitionen genutzt werden, entsprechen die Einträge für den X-Server der Nutzung zweier LGs an der ersten GraKa. Das wird sich hier durch die Monitore und deren technische Daten nicht auswirken, gehört aber aufgeräumt.

Einigermaßen aufgeräumt und ein wenig ergänzt sollte die xorg.conf in etwa wie folgt aussehen:

Mehr ist nicht notwendig.
Für gleiche Monitore reicht hier jeweils ein Eintrag in der "Monitor"-Section. Die doppelte Definition der 2. GraKa fliegt raus. Da die Monitore alle nur über analogen Anschluss / SubD-15 verfügen, erscheinen in der metamode-Definition nur CRT, und kein DFP-Eintrag, trotz des Anschlusses eines der Monitore mittels Adapter an den DVI-Port der GraKa.
Die Einträge "AllowGLXWithComposite" und "AddARGBGLXVisuals" können bei neueren Treiberversionen auch weggelassen werden.
Für die xorg.conf war es das, alles andere ist Desktop- / Windowmanager-Konfigurationssache.
