    3D von Ati Raedeon will nicht

    Hallo zusammen!

    Ich habe ein Problem. Zunächst mal meine Hardware:

    - Athlon XP 2200+ (1,8 GHz)
    - Ati Raedeon 9550

    An und für sich funktionieren die verschiedenen Distributionen und mit den ATI-eigenen Treibern auch die von mir benötigte Auflösung 1440 x 900 (widescreen, geht standardmäßig nicht).

    Möchte ich jedoch ein 3D-Spiel zocken, wie z.B. Tuxracer oder Nexuiz, dann ruckelt es so stark, dass es unspielbar ist. Also nicht ein bischen langsam, sondern unmöglich. Alles andere, also Desktopanwendungen wie Gimp oder einfachere Spiele wie SuperTux laufen ohne Probleme.

    Deshalb vermute ich, dass es an der 3D-Beschleunigung hängt oder an der OpenGL-Unterstützung. Ich habe die Treiber von der ATI-(bzw. AMD-)Homepage installiert, so dort beschrieben. Auch die in den Distri-eigenen Quellen vorhandenen Treiber verhalten sich so.

    Momentan benutze ich Ubuntu 6.10 (Edgy); bei allen anderen nichtkommerziellen Distr. läuft es aber genau so.

    Könnt ihr mir da weiterhelfen? Ich habe schon gesucht ohne Ende und auch einiges ausprobiert, aber nichts hat bisher geholfen.

    Da steht ja zweimal die Sektion "Device". Ich weiß aber nicht, welchen Effekt das hat. Die xorg.conf ist frisch nach der System- und anschließenden Treiberinstallation.

    Zunächst: Bei den fglrx-Treibern kannst Du nicht beides: Composite (z. B. mit Beryl) und 3D. Du musst Dich leider entscheiden!

    Also ich finde Beryl zwar nett (vor allem als Argument gegen Vista ), aber ich brauche es auf keinen Fall. Habe ich denn dieses Composite oder 3D aktiviert?

    Das verstehe ich nicht ganz - um es zu benutzen muss ich es entfernen? Ich habe erst heute Ubuntu 6.10 installiert und direkt danach die ATI-eigenen Treiber drübergebügelt und sonst nichts gemacht. Das war alles vorher. Also ist bei einer frischen Installation irgendetwas dabei, was nicht dabei sein sollte?


    Edit: Ich sehe gerade "Composite extension enabled". Wie kann ich das ändern? Und wieso funzt Beryl trotzdem nicht?

    Dein Problem mit der Composite Extension ist sehr sehr gut dokumentiert. Sieh bitte einfach bei ubuntuusers.de oder google nach.
