Probleme beim Nvidia treiber

Hej...

weiss nicht, entweder bin ich nicht fähig oder ich verstehe dsa ganze noch nicht und brauche noch jahre und viel zeit...
Ich wollte ganz gerne Googe Earth installieren, das klappte auch, aber beim starten meckert er über die nicht korrekte Grafikkarte.
Ich habe ein GforceMX4.
Ich verwende Ubuntu 6.0.6

Es kommt folgende fehlermeldung, auszug aus der .log datei:

google-earth hat mit dem nvidia-installer (und daher auch mit der von dir geposteten Log-File) nix zu tun! Welche Fehlermeldung erscheint beim starten von google-earth?

Google Earth kann ihre Grafikkarte nicht identifizieren.
Wahrscheinlich wurdr der treiber für Ihre Grafikkarte nicht installier. Sie können zwar ihre Arbeit fortsetzen, aber Google Earth funktioniert erst wiede rkorrekt, wenn sie den Treiber Aktualisiert haebn. da wars... und er beginnt das Programm zwar aber ich sehe keiner erde... sie sit nicht vorhanden.
Abgesehen von Google earth hab ich das problem das ich EnemyTerritorry istallier habe, wollte es öffnen und zocken, doch leider geht es nicht nach dem anfang schließt es sich und ich bin wieder auf dem Desktop und zwar in einer anderen auflösung als ich es gewohnt bin...

Das bringt uns weiter. google-earth benötigt OpenGL. OpenGL geht, wenn du den Treiber deine Grafikarte richtig installierst. Dein Ansatz mit dem nvidia-installer war also goldrichtig. Der Installer meldet folgenden Fehler (siehe Log-File):

Ich nehme an, Du kannst das übersetzen.. Folge einfach der Anweisung und beende X bevor Du den nvidia-installer aufrufst..

Danke, danke, danke,

das läuft nun alles, habe aber es nicht begriffen was da stand, ich sollte das X ausschalten bzw. entfernen, weiss aber nicht wovon, und in die datei die angegeben war löschen umbenennen? aber da ich ja über den Dateibrowser keine rechte habe, sinder nur im root terminal und ich in dieses dateiverzeichniss nicht hinein kam, bin ich im terminal über "user$ sudo dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg" gegangen und hab nur Nvidia eingestellt, den rest so gelassen...

vielen dank, nun läuft es,
jetzt kommt das 2. wie bekomme ich vmware zum laufen...

Damit Laufen tuen tut das dingsda vmwere müssen du lernen wie installieren tuen dat mutt eingach ganz!

Soll heissen: Ich hab nicht verstanden, was du im ersten Teil des Postings meintest.

das selbe Problem habe ich auch. HAbe den Installer angeschmissen, doch er hat die Installation nicht durchführen können. Warum? Was kann ich noch tun?

habe es ausprobiert bis zum Schritt 4
make menuconfig
make modules_prepare

und dann habe ich den installer gestartet. Geht trotzdem nicht!

Wenn ich das wüsste !

Ich dachte mit dem Befehl export ignore_cc_mismatch=yes wäre das erledigt

Also, wie lässt sich das überprüfen?
Ich bin zwar fleißig, und nutze alle Informationen die ich im Netz finde, habe von Linux aber nicht wirklich viel Ahnung

"1 Invalid module format"

Diese Meldung beim insmod scheint das Problem zu sein. Ich tippe mal auf unterschiedliche gcc-Versionen. Die installierte Version bekommst du mit "rpm -q gcc" heraus. Beim Kernel muss ich momentan passen bei Mandriva.
