    Question Debian Sarge 3.1 - USB Hardware

    Hi,
    ich ein Problem mit meiner externen USB 2.0 Festplatte. Schalte ich sie ein erhalte ich die unten stehende Fehlermeldung und keine der per USB angeschlossenen Hardwareteile funzt mehr. Das betrifft im speziellen meine USB Tastatur, die über eine USB Hub verfügt über den meine Maus angeschlossen ist.
    An der Hardware kann es übrigens nicht liegen, dass das Problem unter SuSE Linux sowie Knoppix nicht besteht!

    Über jede Hilfe wäre ich sehr dankbar.

    sieht eigentlich ganz gut aus,

    gib mal dmesg ein und poste das mal..

    und deine /var/log/messages seid dem start..

    auf jeden Fall scheints du einen IRQ conflict zu haben ...

    mal nen anderen usb-port probieren. Also nicht am Hub sondern am Rechner. Und mal das gerät ohne hub direckt in den usb-port. Wenn du pci karten drin hast mal den steckplatz tauschen - kann sein das der Steckplatz mit dem USB controller collidiert...

    die Ausgaben poste ich später... bin gerad mit Win unterwegs...

    bei meinem Rechner handelt es sich um einen ASUS Notebook... keine PCI Karten! Das Notebook verfügt über einen internen USB 4er Hub an dem der Drucker, die Tastatur(und darüber die Maus) und die besagte Festplatte hängt.

    wir sind uns scheinbar einig, dass es sich um einen IRQ Konflikt handelt!

    In einigen Fällen ist der Kernel, der auf Ihrem Installationsmedium enthalten ist, so konfiguriert, daß er für bestimmte Geräte bestimmte IRQs benutzt. So ist es zum Beispiel im Kernel einiger Distributionen voreingestellt, daß der IRQ 5 für den SCSI-Controller TMC-950, den CD-ROM-Controller von Mitsumi und den Busmaus-Treiber benutzt wird. Wenn Sie zwei oder mehr dieser Geräte benutzen wollen, werden Sie zuerst Linux installieren müssen, solange nur eines dieser Geräte aktiviert ist. Anschließend müssen Sie den Kernel neu kompilieren, um für eines der Geräte einen anderen IRQ einzustellen. (Im Abschnitt »Einen neuen Kernel erstellen« in Kapitel 7, Software und den Kernel aktualisieren, erfahren Sie mehr über das Kompilieren des Kernels.)
