Zufälliger Bootverlauf...

Hallo,

Mein neuer selbstgebauter 2.6.-Kernel bootet. Wunderschön. Nun ja, jetzt ist da nur noch die Sache, dass einige Daemons beim Booten nicht ordnungsgemäß gestartet werden können. (statt dem üblichen "done" wird ein "failed" ausgegeben)

Das wäre ja alles halb so schlimm, ich würde diese Probleme ja gerne lösen, das Dumme dabei ist nur, dass die Daemons, die nicht gestartet werden können, bei jedem Boot irgendwie Andere sind:
Beim letzten Boot verursachten jediglich der Samba classic SMB daemon und nscd Probleme, beim vorletzten waren es syslog, CRON, sämtliche Samba daemons, und xdm. Dies war nachdem ich in der Kernelkonfiguration jediglich die Unterstützung für PCMCIA ein wenig abgeändert hatte. davor war sogar einmal was mit xinetd.

Die boot.msg sagt zum Beispiel zu Syslog, dass es mit exit status 7 abgebrochen wurde. Was das bedeutet, konnte ich nirgendwo finden.
Ich habe hier Suse Linux 8.2 auf einem Toshiba Laptop.

Ich nehme an, ich habe hier etwas grundlegendes falsch gemacht. Ich hoffe jemand kann mir sagen was.

Fehler 2) Kompilier mal das LVM Modul mit ein.
Fehler 1): Was "char-major-4-" für eine Geräteklasse ist, kannst du selbst mit "ls -l" nachschauen!

2) Ich habe jetzt alles einkompiliert, was unter RAID und LVM (Multidevice-support) stand. Hat haber nicht wirklich etwas geändert. Die Frage nach einem LVM-Modul kommt immernoch. Kann natürlich sein, dass es da noch etwas anderes zu LVM gibt. Ich hab die .config nach LVM durchsucht, es gibt leider keine anderen Optionen.

1) Kann sein dass ich mich ein wenig dämlich anstelle, aber so wie ich das gelesen habe, erzeugt "ls -l" eine Liste mit dem Inhalt des aktuellen Verzeichnisses. Und das tut es auch. Würde mich freuen, wenn du mir näher erkäutern könntest, was du meinst.

Ich schreibe gerade von Win aus, weil mein Linux im Moment nicht geht, deshalb kann ich dir nur in etwa sagen, was gemeint ist:

mache den "ls -l" in /dev. Dort findest du die Gerätetreiber-Zugriffspunkte (auch Nodes genannt). Der eintrag ist etwa so aufgebaut:

hda1 <Rechte> 3 1 12.2.2004 13:36

Ganz grob irgendwie so. Diese 3 ist die Major Nummer, die in diesem Fall den IDE-Treiber anspricht. Die 1 ist die Minor, die dem IDE-Treiber sagt, welche Partition gemeint ist. hda2 hat demnach Major/Minor 3/2 ...

Deine Geräte haben die Major 4 und 109. Du kannst also nach dieser 4/109 suchen und weißt, welches Gerät gemeint ist.

So wie es aussieht, ist das Gerät mit Majornummer 109 das schon angesprochene LVM, das mit Major 4 und Minor 64 dann ttyS0.

@Uli: Du könntest noch mal kontrollieren, ob du den Kernel tatsächlich mitsamt System.map korrekt installiert hast.
Auch lilo.conf kontrollieren und lilo neu installieren ("lilo").

Sowas nenn ich mal "Flüchtigkeitsfehler" und die mögen schonmal während einer "Spätschicht" der ganzen Kompiliererei auftreten.

Hallo,

Ich habs jetzt mal mit Kernel 2.6.8. von Anfang an versucht. Es sind jetzt ein paar Fehler weniger, aber das Grundproblem ist dasselbe.

Ich habe den Kernel mit make menuconfig konfiguriert und dann kompiliert.
Anschließend dann ein
make modules_install

An der boot.msg hat sich nicht groß etwas geändert, gleich zu beginn erkennt er die richtige System.map (also bei mir /boot/System.map-2.6.8 mit XXX Symbolen, um mir dann zu sagen, dass er keine Module geladen hat, da ich sie angeblich ausgeschaltet hätte.
Diesmal habe ich allerdings Unterstützung für die /proc/config.gz einkompiliert und die sagt zu diesem Thema:

falls Du das Problem mittlerweile gelöst hast, kannst Du ja evtl. schon über den Post schmunzeln.. Mal schaun.

1.) Ich kenne die SuSE8.2 nicht (mehr), aber können Deine modutils die 2.6er Module laden? Bei "älteren" Distris (ja, ja... sooo alt ist sie auch noch nicht..

) kann es da schon mal zu Probs kommen.

2.) Hast Du im Kernel _alles_ fest drin, was zum Starten des Sys notwendig ist? Ich denke nicht und evtl. hilft Dir das schon mal weiter. Ansonsten, denke ich, könnte auch mkinitrd(8) helfen... So als Gedanke.
