    Question GDM und GNOME starten nicht (Gentoo)

    Ich bin nun dabei auf die grafische Oberfläche zu wechseln. Die Vorraussetzungen, zB X-Server, NVIDIA Kernel und gnome, sind geschaffen. Das Problem ist jetzt, dass wenn der Rechner auf die grafische Oberfläche wechselt erscheint der Splashscreen von NVIDIA, welcher nicht verschwindet. Sollte nicht gnome und gdm gestartet werden! Wenn ich über [Str]+[Alt]+[F1] auf die Konsole wechsele und wieder zurück seh ich nur schwarz.
    Ich hab mal bei Google geforscht, eine Lösung hab ich allerdings nicht entdeckt. Einer von euch hat doch bestimmt schon mal selber dieses Problem gehabt oder? Wenn ja, wie habt ihr das Problem gelöst?

    Viele haben hier nen Thread erstellt und nachgefragt. Die meissten von denen haben (wenn auch erst nach Aufforderung) die /etc/X11/xorg.conf bzw. /etc/X11/XF86Config(-4) (X-Server-Config) und die X-Server log-files gepostet, in denen der Fehler stehen könnte.

    Solltest es ihnen vielleicht nach machen.

    Hast du den VMALLOC_RESERVE Patch auf den Kernel angewendet, oder ist er schon drin?

    Kann es auch daran liegen, dass beim emergen der Rechner abgestürzt ist und nicht alles Pakete zuende kompiliert wurden?
    Wie kann ich überprüfen, welche Pakete von gnome nicht ordnungsgemäß installiert wurde?

    Nöö, wenn es probleme beim kompilieren gibt und du startest den emerge Vorgang neu, dann entzippt er das ganze neu und kompilierts auch neu.

    Wenn du wissen willst ob gnome installiert ist dann gib mal ein.

    wegen der xorg.conf ich hatte die XFREE86Conf von meinem alten RH9 system übernommen und halt ein bisschen angepasst, nvidia treiber, fonts etc.

    Update mal gnome, zur Not alle Pakete.
    Du kannst auch mal fluxbox etc. installieren und gucken, ob das funktioniert.

    Falls du den Patch nicht hast, kann es nicht funktionieren.

    ähnliches problem hab ich hier auch. hab auch den 2.6.10er und versuche die nvidia treiber zu installierne. läuft ohne probleme nur bei start des xservers macht der ganze xserver nen abflug. ich muss mich dann per ssh einloggen und den server killen und ohne die nvidia treiber neustarten bevor wieder was läuft. ich hab langsam die vermutung es liegt am kernel und nicht mehr an der cpu (hab amd64). du könntest mal nen anderen kernel ausprobieren. vielleicht geht es ja dann
