ich hätte da mal ein nicht ständig reproduzierbares Problem, bei dessen Lösungssuche ich mir schwer tue, weil für mich unlogisch.
Also, zwei 40GB-Platten, auf hda1 (500MB) ist swap, hda2 (/) und hda3 (/home) (=39,5GB) SuSE 9.1. Auf hdb2 (20GB) Kanotix BH9 zum Basteln und auf hdb2 (20GB) ebenfalls Kanotix BH9.
Im Bios sind beide Platten nicht als Auto, sondern User eingestellt, LBA ist auf On.
Bei der Installation von hdb2 habe ich grub nicht in den MBR gelegt, sondern nachträglich auf hda2 die /boot/grub/menu.lst geändert. Here it is:

Mein Problem tritt auf, wenn ich den Rechner einschalte oder neu boote. Dann kriege erst das knallbunte SuSE-Bootmenue und bei der Auswahl von kanotix auf hdb2 bekomme ich meistens diese Meldung:

Presse ich dann any key, erscheint das Bootmenue wieder, nur textbasiert. Wähle ich dann wieder kanotix auf hdb2, kriege ich dieselbe Meldung wieder und wieder. Zwischendurch jedoch ein wenig Abwechslung mit dieser Meldung:

Diese Spielchen wiederholt sich unterschiedlich oft, bis das Ding dann doch endlich bootet. Seltsam dabei, das Phänomen tritt nicht immer auf. Manchmal kann ich sofort nach dem Einschalten booten, dann wieder minutenlang any key pressen, bis sich was tut.
Die Festplatte habe ich gecheckt, die hat anscheinend keinen Fehler.
dmesg gibt folgendes aus:

Ich dachte erst an das 1024-Cylinderproblem, aber a) müßte grub das doch können und b) wieso tritt das nur unregelmäßig auf.
Sodele, ich hoffe, daß mir jemand einen Tip geben kann, wie und wo ich die Fehlersuche ansetzen kann, denn nachvollziehbar ist das wie gesagt aufgrund der Unregelmäßigkeit für mich nicht. Falls noch Angaben fehlen, dann laßt es mich wissen.
