Hi,
Also ich bin noch recht neu in sachen Linux daher auch ne "dumme" frage.
Ich werkel seit einiger Zeit daran einen proftpd auf Suse 8.1 zum laufen zu bekommen.
Wobei er ja startet und auch läuft, aber es werden alle user anmeldungen abgewisen ...
Meldung:
500 FTP server shut down (going down at Sat Feb 1 21:40:15 2003) -- please try again
und nun hab ich keinen blassen schimmer was mir das sagen soll ... per google hab ich auch nix gefunden ;(

Also ich bin acuh ein Linux noob, habe Proftd aber dann odch gut hinbekommen nach einige Fragen. Habe jedochncihjt viele ansprüche in zusmmanehang mit accoub ntd gehabt.
Mir hat dieses FAQ was in diesem Forum immer wieder auftaucht auch sehr geholfen:

erstmal danke für den tip, nur is die seite für pureftp und ich nutze doch proftp ???
aber über diese fehlermeldung finde ich auch dort nix ;(

wenn ich jetzt noch wüsste wo ich die logs finde ;(
Tag,
die Logs findest du in /var/log/proftpd.log.
Die proftpd.conf sieht nicht fehlerhaft aus, komisches Problem. Vielleicht geben ja die Logs aufschluss.

öhm .. da is kein log .... und ich hab mal nach proftpd.log gesucht .. auch nix .. auf der ganzen pladde nicht !?!?!?

extendedlog /var/log/proftpd.log all default
In die /etc/proftpd.conf rein, Dienst neu starten, mit client versuchen zu connecten, log posten.

also das mit dem logfile funzt irgendwie nicht wirklich ... hab aber was in der message.log gefunden

nun frag ich micht was mir das shutmsg sagen will mit "all incoming connections will be refused" ?!?!!?

danke für deinen tip .. hab mal nach der shutmsg gesucht (im forum) und gelesen das die für ne temporäre abschaltung des ftp ist .. und gelöscht und jetzt läuft er ... supieee
