Gentoo + cupsd + restart ?

Hallo Forum,

ich habe Probleme Cups unter Gentoo ans laufen zu bringen.
Im Moment schaut es auf meinem Rechner so aus.
Gentoo Linux 1.4 rc2 + KDE + Cups 1.1.18 + Ghostscript + Turboprint + HP990cxi an USB.

Hatte auch schon ältere Versionen von Cups (cups-1.1.14-r4.ebuild, cups-1.1.16.ebuild)
zum testen installiert, aber alle mit der selben Fehlermeldung:

Nach einem /etc/init.d/cupsd restart , druckt er aber.

Jetzt frage ich mich, warum 'cupsd' nach einem reboot unbedingt einen 'restart' braucht.

Warum er nicht unter Group bzw. User 'lp' drucken wollte, bleibt mir allerdings ein Rätzel ?
Root und User gehören nämlich der Gruppe 'lp' an.
