Hallo,
ich hoffe Ihr nehmt es mir nicht übel, wenn ich eine Hardwarefrage in dieses Forum stelle. Ich habe am Samstag eine Netzwerksession gegen Windows-Gamer und habe das zum Anlaß genommen um meine Matrox G400 32 MB gegen eine Nvidia GeForce 2 MX 400 64MB zu tauschen.

Ich glaube ich habe auch soweit alles ganz richtig gemacht (neueste Treiber installiert und die Links zu den GL Dateien überpüft:

Nun zu meiner Frage:
Mit der Matrox habe ich mit gears Werte von 1250 fps hinbekommen. Mit der Nvidia nur 910 ist das so richtig? Es wäre nett, wenn jemand mit der selben Karte mir einmal Vergleichswerte posten könnte

Auch würde mich interessieren, wieviel fps ihr in UT mit dieser GK hinbekommen, bei mir lagen die jetzt so zwischen 42 und 50 und ich hätte schon das ein wenig flüssiger um gegen die Windowsianer bestehen zu können.

Wenn Ihr irgendwelche Tipps hättet, wie ich die FPS hochschrauben kann, wäre ich echt dankbar,

Hey, ein Freund von mir hat mit ner Geforce2 MX 400 32MB
glxgears = ca. 1400FPS. Er hat einen Duron 800MHz.

Schau mal ob die Fabtiefe bei dir auf 16 steht und nicht auf 24

Bei holarse findest du auch noch ein paar Tuningtips.

Das müssten 1600 - 1800 sein. Prüf mal nach ob AGP aktiviert ist und die Farbtiefe auf 16 Bit steht.

hm, ich habe eine Geforce 2 mx und habe dabei mit Gears 1662 fps. Allerdings nur mit den alten Treibern (ver. 2880). Die neuen sind erheblich langsamer. Da sind es nur noch ca. 1400. Vielleicht hilft es, wenn du die Tar's nimmst. Manchmal holt man damit noch was raus!

also erstens vermisse ich die option NvAGP also haste schon mal kein agp aktiviert.
zweitens... wieso zum geier wird da agpgart geladen?
und drittens ist die dri section unnötig für nvidia.

was willst du denn jetzt? naja wie auch immer...
stony setz mal die option NvAGP auf 1 weil default is 3 also erst agpgart und dann erst das nvidia eigene... mit agpgart läuft das bei mir hier auch net bzw ist genau so lahm wie mit deaktiviertem agp.

Wenn du NvAGP aktivierst, musst du AGPGART komplett aus dem Kernel schmeissen (ansonsten gibts einen FallBack auf AGPGART) - nur wenn AGPGART komplett weg ist, laeuft NvAGP.

Ich les jetzt nicht deine ganzen Logs, sondern vermute mal dass du schon auf die neue nvidia treiber version upgedatet hast. Dann sollte dir ein "cat /proc/nvidia/{weiter weiss ich nicht aus dem kopf, aber irgendwas mit agp}" Informationen darueber geben ob deine Karte im NvAGP oder AGPGART modus laeuft.

Das werde ich nachher gleich mal nachprüfen, ich habe nächmlich den AGPGART nicht aus dem Kernel geschmissen.

(BTW: Wie schmeiße ich den am einfachsten das AGPGART raus? Muß ich dazu einen eigenen Kernel kompilieren?? Bitte sag nein, denn ich habe mit dem Kernelbacken bis jetzt nur Probleme gehabt)

Nein du musst keinen Kernel bauen (wenn du weiterhin 900 frames haben willst).

Wenn du allerdings AGPGART entfernen willst, musst du einen neuen Kernel bauen (zumindest wenn es fest in den Kernel einkompiliert ist)

Agpgart aus dem Kernel entfernen ist ganz einfach. Du gehst normal in das "make menuconfig" und dann machst du folgende switches:


Character devices --->
< > /dev/agpgart (AGP Support)
[ ] Direct Rendering Manager (XFree86 DRI support)


dann ganz einfach (wie immer) "make clean && make dep && make bzImage && make modules && make modules_install && cp arch/i386/boot/bzImage /boot/bzImage-[kernel-version] && cp System.map /boot/System.map-[kernel-version]"

danach noch lilo oder grub anpassen, wenn du lilo nimmst noch einmal "lilo" ausfuehren, anschliessend "reboot" - fertig.

Wo war das problem gleich?

Das habe ich schon richtig verstanden ;) &acute;
Ich habe den SuSE standard-kernel - da wird, meine ich das AGPGART-Modul nachgeladen, sobald es benötigt wird.
Ich habe jetzt in der XFreeconfig "NvAGP" "1" stehen und in der Logdatei steht dann drin, daß er das Modul richtig geladen hat.
Aber trotzdem nur 800 fps. mit "cat /proc/drivers/video/agp" habe ich dann herausgefunden, daß APG aktiv ist und der Treiber "NVIDIA" verwendet wird. das scheint also i.O. zu sein.

Es steht aber auch "Fast Write - disabled" hat das eventuell was zu bedeuten?

(Sorry daß ich jetzt so rundumfrag, aber mir fällt einfach nichts mehr, was es noch sein könnte, zumal die Logs keinerlei Fehlermeldung ausspucken)

also fastwrites und sba hab ich hier auch nicht aktivieren können allerdings hab ich vom kernel treiber die finger gelassen. das is wohl auch noch alles relativ experimentell. tja vieleicht bringt die karte wirklich nicht mehr?
