Ich will versuchen die im Titel genannte Webcam unter OpenSUSE 11.1 zu installieren. Aber so richtig weiß ich auch niht wo ich anfangen soll. Was ich weiß ist, dass es keinen offiziellen Linuxtreiber gibt. Hab ich da noch eine Changse?
Ich würde mich über eure Hilfe freuen.

lsmod listet alle geladenen Module auf. Ist gspca_zc3xx nicht dabei, kannst du es als root (wirst du mit su), mit modprobe gspca_zc3xx nachladen, sollte aber normalerweise nicht nötig sein. Schau dann mal mit ls -lH /dev/video* nach, ob ein Device angelegt wurde, und wie die Zugriffsrechte aussehen. Bei Problemen lohnt meist ein Blick in die letzten Zeilen der Ausgabe von dmesg nach dem Anschließen der Webcam.

Nachdem Du den Beitrag von buzz768 abgearbeitet hast und falls der Treiber sowie das Device vorhanden sind (wovon ich mal ausgehe) etwas Lesestoff:

Das Vorgeplänkel mit "neuem, angepasstem Treiberpaket" ist für Dich uninteressant, danach wirds aber auch für Dich um so interessanter.

Also noch mal langsam:
Gebe ich lsmod ein ist gspca_zc3xx nicht unter den modulen zu finden. Was berwirkt überhaupt dieses Modul? Wenn ich es versuche nach zu landen mit modprobe gspca_zc3xx sagt mir das terminal FATAL: Could not load /lib/modules/2.6.27.7-9-pae/modules.dep: No such file or directory.
Will ich gucken ob der device angelegt wurde gebe ich ls: Zugriff auf /dev/video* nicht möglich: Datei oder Verzeichnis nicht gefunden ein. Antwort: ls: Zugriff auf /dev/video* nicht möglich: Datei oder Verzeichnis nicht gefunden
Wenn ich dmesg eingebe kommt:

Ich habe alles so und unverändert eingegeben wie es dort stand. Bitte nehmt es mir nicht übel, wenn ich totale Laien Fehler mache, aber ich versuche mich seit nun knapp 2 Wochen mit der Konsole zu befassen

Da liegt aber noch einiges im Argen und Deine Webcam sollte die geringste Sorge sein.


FATAL: Could not load /lib/modules/2.6.27.7-9-pae/modules.dep: No such file or directory.

Wie da überhaupt ein Modul geladen werden soll, ist mir schleierhaft und ausserdem ist das System nicht auf dem aktuellen Stand (was aber mit dem Fehler direkt nichts zu tun hat, das muss auch mit dem "alten" Kernel funktionieren, wenn alles in Ordnung ist).

Bring die Kiste mit YaST Online Update auf den aktuellen Stand und starte neu.

Weil modprobe eine funktionierende /lib/modules/*Kernelversion*/modules.dep benötigt (wie ja auch aus der Fehlermeldung ersichtlich).

OK, ich habe das Modul mit modprobe gspca_zc3xx nach geladen. Es ist danach auch unter lsmod aufgelistet. Es wurde ein Device angelegt.
