Hallo,

ich habe Ubuntu 8.10 installiert und VMware-Server 2 wenn ich jetzt eine Virtuelle Maschine starte oder neu installiere habe ich eine Systemlast von teilweise über 10. Ich denke das ist nicht normal.
Woran kann das liegen, ausserdem wenn die VM mal Updates macht steigt die Systemlast auch ziemlich schnell so an die 4 an.
Kann ich dagegen was tun. Passiert mir zum Beispiel bei Windows XP.
Habe 4 GB Ram, wovon leider nur 3 erkannt werden. Centrino duo mit 2,1 GHz.

Hat jemand einen Tipp.

An die 10 bzw. 4 was?
Bezüglich Ram hast das die 32Bit oder die 64Bit Version installiert?

Bitte mal etwas Monitoring mit "iostat" machen (z. B. kontinuierlich während die VM ordentlich arbeitet), und mal die Ergebnisse hier anhängen.

Also ich einen Load average von 4 und bei Installationen wenn noch eine VM läuft von 10 manchmal. derzeit mit zwei VM um die 4 durchschnittlich.
Habe das 32 Bit System.
Kann ich unter Linux ermitteln wie schnell meine Festplatte ist, weiß ich leider nicht.
iostat jetzt mit 2 VM

So jetzt ist die VM fertig hochgefahren.
Es laufen jetzt 3 VM's, wovon zwei 512MB Ram bekommen und eine 1G.

das sieht einfach danach auch, dass Deine HD einfach viel zu langsam für den Anwendungszweck ist.

kann ich unter linux herausfinden wir schnell sich die Platte dreht.

das weiß ich auch, wollte sie aber eigentlich nicht ausbauen. Daher ja die frage.

Falls es ein Notebook ist kann ich dir Sagen das Platte aufgrund der Zugriffszeiten und Datendurchsatzes nicht schafen kann, dafür sind normale 2,5 Platten nicht ausgelegt.
Falls der Notebooks über E-SATA verfügt könnte dies noch eine Option sein.
