Tja was soll ich noch sagen. Ich bin mittelschwer bis extrem am verzweifel. Stöber jetzt schon den ganzen tag nach informationen und bekomm nix sinniges zusammen.

Also ausgangssituation:
Frisch aufgesetztes Ubuntu (8.04) nebst nem WinXP
wg111v3 stick - läuft

aber keine verbindung zum router.
WLAN netz wird erkannt, ich tipp mienen schlüssel ien. und dann versucht er zu verbinden.
klappt aber nicht kanz

ich nutz das tool knetworkmanager, und habs auch schon mit "iwconfig essid netz key schlüssel" versucht


einer ne idee??

wenn mit iwconfig dann
iwconfig interface essid name
iwconfig interface key s:ascii-key
wobei du interface mit dem namen deines wlan-interfaces (wlan0, eth1,...) ersetzen musst, name mit der essid deines wlans und ascii-key mit dem wep-key.

ja meint ich ja. also das interface hatte ich schon noch mit eingetragen. und mit dem ascii key gehts nicht (24 oder 26 zeichen lang) und wenn ich das s weglassen nimmt der das dingen als hexkey.. geht aber auch nicht

Ich denk der ascii key sollte für 128bit genau 13 zeichen lang sein. Alternativ ohne s: wär dasselbe ein 26 zeichen langer hex-string (13byte).

Kannst du mal noch die Ausgabe von
dmesg | tail -n 30 posten nachdem du versucht hast dich zu verbinden?

bist du dir mit dem schlüssel sicher?
mach doch mal testweise die verschlüsslung aus - und sieh nach ob es dann funktioniert.

kannst ja das dsl kabel auch ziehen wenn der test länger dauert

ja der key funktioniert..
ich hab mir den im kiskis gespeichert, und kopier den dann einfach nur in das entsprechende feld.
im ubuntu hab ich denn zzt noch einfach so lose in einer txtdatei aufm desktop liegen, weil ich kein plan hab ob ich da das kiskis ans laufen bekomm *g*

aber ich hab jetzt einfach mal die verschlüsselung ausgestellt, und dann komm ich rein. komisch.

ich hab grad einfach mal einen WPA key gesetzt (der router kann beides gleichzeitig) und das funktioniert auch nicht (hier hab ich es aber mit dem k networkmanager gemacht)

kein essid am interface wlan0 gesetzt
klassische netzwerkcofig mit ifup wurde entdeckt. Der knetworkmanager ist wesentlich einfacher.

cooles tool, aber ich hab den networkmanager natürlich als erstes ausprobiert ;)

Und die Ausgabedatei sagt (uns)?
Einige Meldungen des skriptes werden auch dadurch bedingt sein, dass es eigentlich auf Suse abgestellt ist. Die wichtigen Dinge werden aber auch für ubuntu gefunden.

Diesen Aufwand solltest Du Dir aber für das Kopieren einer schon fertig vom Script angelegten Datei jetzt machen.

Wenn das stimmt, dann kannst Du WEP-Keys eingeben, bis Du schwarz wirst, vor allem, wenn

ich habs mit unserm (ellenlangen) wep key versucht. und ich hab extra mal das wpa angemacht und es mit nem 12345asdfg key versucht.

beides ging leider nicht.
also wenn ihr mir jetzt sagt das ich einfach nur wpa_supplicant 12345asdfg eintippen muss und das geht wär ich echt glücklich ;)

Das Glücksgefühl wird noch auf sich warten lassen müssen.

- Bei der Konfiguration mittels NWM _explizit_ die WPA-Version angeben

- Statt NWM die klassische Methode ausprobieren

geb ich an die Kunterbuntu-experten weiter, keine Ahnung, was da wieder schief läuft, die "" sollten jedenfalls nur bei ASCII-Passphrasen gesetzt werden.

Ansonsten spackt vielleicht der Router rum oder der Windowstreiber macht Zicken.

ja daraufhin hab ich den key einfach so reingeschrieben, ohne ihn vorher durch wpa_passphrase laufen zu lassen.
hab den code oben mal (hoffentlich) lesbarer gemacht, indem ich vor meine eingaben eine leerzeile gemacht hab :D

hmm.. aber ich glaube das ist ein routerproblem. inzwischen ist nichtmal mehr eine verbindung mit der windowskofiguration zu bekommen. bzw eine verbindung schon, aber der router vergibt keine ip adressen mehr.

ich muss mich die tage mal hinsetzen und das dingen von grund auf neu konfigurieren.

also ich hab die routerconfig wieder hergestellt.. login mit windows klappt wunderbar.. aber das jukt ja nicht.

ich glaub das der wpa_supplicant n problem mit dem router hat.
iwlist scanning gibt folgendes aus:


bla bla .. router mac und signalstärken..
und jetzt wirds interessant:

also mein verdacht ist, das ubuntu diese 2 unterschiedlichen verschlüsselungen (WEP und WPA) nicht hinbekommt.
ich glaub ich werd mal mit meinen mitbewohnern sprechen.. also entweder wpa oder wep.. aber beides macht ja nun wirklich keinen sinn

aber back to topic:
kann es sein das linux das unter umständen nicht auf die reihe bekommt?

aber der gleiche *******.. naja am montag werd ich die WPA verschlüsselung kicken und einfach das netzwerk hiden..
dann gibbet auch im allg. weniger probs (hoff ich :D)

soooo.. updates *g*
also linux kommt nicht mit der doppelverschlüsselung zurecht (im gegensatz zu windows *grml* )
das ist scheinbar ein allg. Linuxproblem .. kann man nichts machen :(
aber das ganze hat natürlich auch was gute.. jetzt ist unser netz wenigstens sicher.. WEP verschlüsselung ausgestellt und netzwerk hidden.. dazu noch n honeypot aufgemacht an dem ein nichtssagender rechner hängt *g*
