Hallo,
es geht um ein altes Satellite 1130Z27.
Habe es mit Ubuntu8.04 gestartet, alles außer Wlan geht.

mhh ich weiß nicht ob man hier deine frage verstanden hat...
wenn die live-version geht, warum sollte die installliert nicht auch so funktionieren können? oder ist dir das wlan im speziellen wichtig? hast du genug festplatte, wieviel ram ist da drin? was soll das ding tun?
fragen über fragen ;)

Ich kenne mich mit WLAN Interfaces nicht aus, aber ich habe in deinem Listing keinen Eintrag entdeckt den ich für ein WLAN Interface halten würde .. nur ein Modem und ein Ethernet....

=> Kann es sein dass dein WLAN Baustein nicht automatisch erkannt wurde ?

Hallo,
Wlan ist mir wichtig
es ist eine mini-pci Karte.
Es handelt sich um das Notebook meines Sohnes, da er mit dem Teil nur im Internet rumwohnt und kürzlich Theater mit Viren hatte dachte ich an Ubuntu als Zweit-system.
Platten-platz ist vorhanden(120GB)
Da war mal Suse drauf (als es noch mir gehörte), hat irgendwann nicht mehr funktioniert (das Wlan).
Unter Windows läuft es.
Was müsst Ihr sonst noch wissen?

Dann müsste lspci sie aber zumindest anzeigen. Keine Ausgabe von lspci bedeutet eigentlich soviel wie "physikalisch gar nicht vorhanden".

Sicher? Wann wurde das zum letzten Mal getestet?

Wie nennt Windows das Kind denn?

Irgendwas im BIOS umgestellt?

Da die Karte in lspci nicht zu sehen ist wäre nämlich ansonsten die erste Vermutung HW-Defekt/Anschlussproblem.

OK, noch einmal zur Verdeutlichung.

Wenn Linux die Karte nicht einmal "sieht" (und bei lspci müsste eine MINI-PCI-Karte angezeigt werden, meine ipw2200 wird da auch aufgelistet), dann ist das zu 99% ein HW-Problem, deshalb wundert es mich auch, wieso dieses Karte unter Windows funktionieren kann.

Eine BIOS-Option (= Karte so ausknipsen, daß sie gar nichts mehr tut und sich nicht mal mehr bei lspci "meldet") würde ja ebenfalls beide OS betreffen, es sei denn, man kann unter Windows softwaregesteuert die Karte irgendwie "Anknipsen" und z.B. beim Runterfahren wird die arte von Windows wieder "ausgeknipst".

Also einziger Ansatzpunkt wären eben da nachzusehen, ob es eine entsprechende Option gibt.

Auf jeden Fall lese ich zum ersten Mal von solche einem Verhalten, bisher war es immer so, daß wenn lspci bzw. lsusb eine Hardware nicht fanden (und wenn es auch "nur" als "unknown device" war), dann war die HW auch entweder im Eimer oder nicht richtig angeschlossen.

Ich denke doch, behauptet Windows zumindest.
Außerdem ist es ja eine interne Karte, oder gibt es da auch noch Unterschiede.
Ich dachte immer das sind alles Mini-PCI
Im übrigen das Suse von damals war glaube ich 9.0.

Hallo,
ich habe das Notebook mal aufgeschraubt :D:D:D:D
es handelt sich um eine Agere/Lucent ORiNOCO 802.11b Wireless LAN Mini PCI
model MPC13A-20/R.
Leider habe ich bis jetzt noch keinen Treiber gefunden.
Agere wurde wohl aufgekauft, Treiber gibt es da nicht mehr.
Falls jemand eine Idee zwecks Suche hat wäre ich sehr dankbar.

damit kannst du einfach den windows treiber benutzen.

die module sind ja geladen, eigentlich sollte es nur noch an der einrichtung der verbindung und verschlüsselung liegen.
ggf. muß noch eine firmware an die richtige stelle kopiert werden, meistens /lib/firmware.
