ich habe mir heute eine externe Festplatte (Trekstor datastation 500GB) gekauft aber sie wird nicht erkannt. bei lsusb kommt folgendes raus

um sie zu formatieren sollte sie ja erst mal vom System gefunden werden - fdisk -l sagt aber bei Dir, dass er die Platte "so einfach" zumindest nicht findet.

Hast Du das Ding über einen USB-Hub angeschlossen? Wenn ja, steck sie mal direkt.

Welche Distri verwendest Du denn?

Den Ein/Ausschalter auf der Rückseite hast du aber gesehn gel?

Wenn du den Schalter umlegst sollte sie eingetlich auf jeden Fall anlaufen, egal ob das USB Kabel angeschlossen ist oder nicht.

Ich würde auf einen Defekt tippen wenn sie gar nicht anläuft. Zur Sicherheit kannst du die Platte ja nochmal an einer Windows Kiste testen.

an windows geht sie auch nicht. sehr komisch. wenn das usbkabel aber unter windows hineingesteckt wird, macht es ein gerausch.

Ich habe die 160 GiB Version von Trekstor, die Platte wird auch korekt bei Dir erkannt wie ich das oben sehe. Geh in yast2 ->System->Partitionieren. Er zeigt dir die Partitionstabelle an. Sofern Du nur eine Festplatte hast, denke mal eine SATA ? Dann sollte die EINGESCHALTETE Trekstor als /dev/sdb mit der Typenbez. Trekstor-Technology angezeigt werden. Steht da unterhalb von /dev/sdb nicht soetwas wie /dev/sdb1 ist die Platte unformatiert und Du musst erst einmal eine Partition anlegen. Sollte die EINGESCHALTETE externe garnicht aufgeführt sein Unter dem Button Experte die Partitionstabelle neu einlesen lassen, bringt eventl. was.

Du erkennst auch an der Trekstor das sie in Betrieb ist das vorne eine blaue Lampe ( ob das bei der 500 Gib Vers. auch so ist weis ich nicht) leuchtet. Geräusche macht die Platte eigentlich nur wenn sie arbeitet, ansonsten ist sie so gut wie still. Die externe Arbeitet aber nicht nur mit USB Kabel sondern benötigt auch noch ein Netzteil was dabei geliefert wird/wurde. Nur so kurz erwähnt.

PS: Falsche Einstellungen an der Partitionstabelle können Dir das System zerschießen, ich gebe hierauf keine Gewähr vorallem nicht auf eventl. falsche Einstellungen die Du vornehmen könntest. Daher klick lieber auf Abbrechen , Verwerfen , wie auch immer bevor Du was kaputt machst :)
