Ein neuere Grafikkartentreiber für NVIDIA Karten ist da, er unterstützt nun die 8800 GT und hat auch eine Vielzahl weiterer Verbesserungen.

Habe ihn hier installiert (PC und Laptop;7800GTX und 7600 Go) und er läuft soweit problemlos.

Nein, zumindest nicht sauber. Bei mir wurde unter Compiz-Fusion keine Fensterdekoration mehr angezeigt (die war auch, egal was ich probiert habe, nicht wieder hinzukriegen) und in Konsole/Terminal war keine Texteingabe mehr möglich. Yakuake ließ sich auch über F12 nicht mehr starten.
Danach habe ich nicht mehr weiter probiert und wieder die 100.14.23 installiert.

Ist nicht *.23 mittlerweile stable? Den hab ich drauf, und der läuft ohne macken bisher. Ok, CF benutz ich auch eher selten, daher kann ich nicht sagen ob es damit größere Probleme gibt.

Die .23 ist stable und läuft einwandfrei, zumindest bei mir ;). Wird, glaube ich, auch von NVIDIA als aktuelle Stable angeboten.

Habe nach Installation des aktuellen Betatreibers Probleme mit compiz. Erhalte bei Ausführen von "fusion-icon" auf der Konsole folgende Fehlermeldung:

Jo, habs auch gesehen....

Leider löst das mein Black Window Bug Problem auf meinem Desktop mit Ubuntu 7.10 auch nicht.... Liegt aber nicht an der Hardware sondern an einem Treiberbug, der bis dato noch nicht gefixt wurde... (Die Ubuntuforen schreien schon seit Compiz draussen ist...) :mad::mad: Wenn der Speicher auf der GraKa knapp wird, stellt man halt nur noch schwarz dar...

Naja, ich riskiers jetzt mal, und installier mir die 169er Beta...

Unabhängig von der xorg.conf: Mit xgl gehen Treiber und compiz.

Jop sehr gut sogar... Konnte mit XGL auf meinem Ubunturechner auch diesen äusserst lästigen Black Window Bug umgehen...

Ich empfinde XGL auch als einiges performanter... Oder irre ich mich da?

Die kannst du Anpassen und verwenden, sie ist auf LCD Monitor angepasst.

Also wenn du CS: Source meinst:
Es gibt einen Fehler im nvidia treiber mit glsl. Irgendwas läuft da leider sehr falsch. Der Bug wurde bereits mit einen wine developer besprochen und vom ihm bestätigt. Vllt ist der irgendwann mal behoben... :ugly:

CS: Source ist es nicht aber kann gut sein das das der bug ist glaub auch das der bei der nägste version behoben wird wie schon so manche fehler :-)

Daraufhin haben wir die entsprechende definition im code entfernt. Die Fehlermessage kam nicht mehr (dafür 2 andere) aber CS hat trotzdem noch nicht funktioniert.

Der Fehler tritt nicht nur in CS:S auf sonder bei praktisch allen Spielen die shader 2.0 + verwenden. Wenn man UseGLSL=disabled setzt funktioniert es dann natürlich wieder.
