VMware Unveils VMware Tools as Open Source Software

VMware has released a majority of VMware Tools as open source
software as part of the Open Virtual Machine Tools project.
VMware Tools is a set of guest operating system virtualization
components that enhance performance and improve management of
VMware virtual machines.

Open Virtual Machine Tools (open-vm-tools) is hosted at
SourceForge, and the source code is available today to enable
Linux vendors to integrate open-sourced VMware Tools into
upcoming versions of their operating systems.

connects remote clients to centralized desktops that can be
accessed securely from almost anywhere and from many different
hardware platforms.

VMware announces the general availability of the VMware
Infrastructure Perl Toolkit 1.0, an easy-to-use interface to
create scripts that automate remote management of your virtual
infrastructure. The toolkit can be used with both VirtualCenter
and VMware ESX Server.

The toolkit includes several ready-to-run utility applications
that automate common system administration tasks such as
inventory, host and virtual machine reconfiguration, and virtual
machine lifecycle operations. The utilities are written using
