keine Fensterdeko mehr (compiz,XGL,Gnome)

Hallo,
nach einem automatischen NVIDIA-Update per smart-updatechecker habe ich keine Fensterdeko mehr. Also der komplette äußere Fensterrand fehlt (Verschieben, Vergrößern, Verkleinern).
Ich habe bereits gdm, xgl und compiz deinstalliert und wieder installiert, aber das half leider nicht.
Auch ein Downgrade half nicht.

Kann mir jemand weiterhelfen?

So kann man rein gar nichts sagen außer könnte würde eventuell.

Aber "ich nix NVidia", kommt mir nur extrem seltsam vor.

Hallo Rain_Maker, sei gegrüßt! Du bist ja überall als Helfer vorhanden. Ganz große Klasse!

Ich habe das Problem gerade eben folgendermaßen gelöst:

Erstmal compiz, xgl und alles von nvidia deinstalliert.
Das Problem blieb leider bestehen.

Dann habe ich versucht herauszubekommen, wie man den Fenstermanager manuell starten könnte (und auf Fehlermeldungen gehofft):
Wikipedia -> Windowmanager -> Gnome verwendet Metacity.

Metacity deinstalliert und eine ältere Version wieder installiert (die aktuelle stand nicht mehr zur Verfügung). Rechner neu gestartet und ging immer noch nicht.

Shell geöffnet und Metacity eingetippt. Metacity startete ohne Fehlermeldung.
Beim Abmelden "Einstellungen speichern" angehakt und seitdem funktioniert es wieder wie gewohnt.

Gerade habe ich mir angeschaut, woher die neuen Pakete kamen: Gnome-Community steht dort als Channel. Das habe ich jetzt entfernt. Ich benötige nicht das Neueste vom Neuesten, sondern ein stabiles System. Ich muss den Channel unachtsam als Vorschlag von smart aktiviert haben. Selber eingetragen habe ich diesen mit Sicherheit nicht.

Jetzt werde ich erstmal bei den anderen Nutzern schauen und dann Stück für Stück die anderen Dinge wieder hinzuladen, wobei ich auf die i586-nvidia-Version verzichten werde. Das kam mir auch merkwürdig vor.

Falls sich für spätere Leser etwas entscheidendes ergibt, werde ich das noch posten.
