Hi,

auch auf die Gefahr hin von euch verprügelt zu werden für den X-ten Thread zum Thema, möchte ich euch doch mein Problem schildern.

Erstmal, "Ja", ich habe gegooglet, sufu benutzt, etc. und viele Lösungsansätze ausprobiert aber nichts hat geklappt.

Ich habe einen Highscreen MS1996N Monitor und eine Geforce TI 4200 Graka.

Ich habe den Nvidia Treiber installiert und die gewünschte Auflösung und Wiederholfreq. bei den nvidia-settings eingestellt und in die xorg.conf speichern lassen (dazu war ich mehr oder weniger gezwungen, weil unter System/Einstellungen/Bildschrimauflösung nicht die gewünschte Auflösung zur Auswahl stand, und wenn doch [nachdem ich irgendwelche Lösungen probiert habe] dann konnte ich kaum mehr als 60mhz auswählen).

Das sieht dann auch gut aus (mit nvidia-settings) bis zum Neustart, denn nachdem ich mich einlogge geht der Bildschirm aus und an, und schwupp hab ich ne andere Auflösung.

Ich habe ubuntu 7.04 und gnome.

Was eigentlich vom Vorteil sein sollte, ich schaffe es aber nicht das auszunutzen: auf der Treiberdiskette vom Monitor is ne Datei anscheinend für Linux, mit folgendem Inhalt, vielleicht lässt sich damit eine Lösung finden:

Ich bin echt am verzweifeln, ich habe ungefähr schon 2 Tage für dieses Problem geopfert.

Wie ihr an der xorg.conf sehen könnt, würde ich gerne 1400x1050 benutzen als Auflösung mit 85hz.

Du kannst nur die Aufloesung benutzen, die Monitor, Grafikkarte und Treiber unterstuetzen. Wenn du was anderes einstellst, wird etwas ausgewuerfelt.
Lese die Logdateien in /var/log/

die Auflösung, zumindest die die ich in nvidia-settings einstelle funktioniert ja, nur nach einem Neustart nicht mehr, da wird die runtergesetzt, das steht auch komischerweise in der log:

Was mich interessieren würde: warum steht da

Hi,

was genau macht die Option "metamodes" in der xorg.conf bei Dir? Benutzt Du xinerama (kenne mich selber damit nicht aus- sry falls ich daneben liege, benutze nur TwinView)?
Der zuletzt gewählte Modus ist offensichtlich der letzte der "metamodes"- ich würde die ganze Zeile auskommentieren, und nur die "modes" angeben die ich haben will- da hast Du nämlich keinen 1400.

Das "DPI set to..." besagt nur, was der Treiber aus den vom Monitor gemeldeten Abmessungen und der eingestellten Auflösung als DPI-Auflösung errechnet hat.
Wenn es falsch ist kannst Du es mit der Option "DisplaySize" in Section Monitor korrigieren.

DankeDann hast Du die selben Probleme wieder. Wenn Deine xorg.conf verbogen ist interessiert es sie nicht, auf welcher Distri sie Schwierigkeiten macht.

Im Umkehrschluss: Wenn sie funktioniert geht sie auch bei anderen Distris, das ist aber Hardware und Versionsabhängig. Bei gleicher Xorg-Version und Hardware solltest Du sie kopieren können.
