XEN: Server läuft - aber ich kann kein WinXP installieren

Hallo

Ich habe einen XEN-Server laufen unter Suse 10.2.

mit Yast oder
xm create vm1 krieg ich den Server zum laufen wie
xm list mir zeigt.

Aber dann geht kein Fenster mehr auf um die Installation zu starten.

Was könnte die Ursache sein?

Was versprichst du dir davon? Aktuell ist VMWARE die schnellere Variante. Und vor allem eine, die problemlos geht.

Ansonsten schau mal im oberen Bereich der Logs, die Netzwerkschicht scheint zu fehlen (tap, bridge).

Also ich möchte es mit XEN deshalb probieren weil ich VM-Ware extra kaufen müsste und ich brauche das XP nur für eine einzige verdongelte Anwendung.

Daher meine Frage:

Was kann ich tun um diese Netzwerkschicht zum laufen zu bekommen?

Seit wann muss man VMWARE Server und Player kaufen? Ich verkauf dir das gerne, aber bei VMWARE kannst du die Sachen auch umsonst kriegen.

Die wichtigste Frage überhaupt, Tom, unterstützt deine CPU Intel VT oder AMDV? Ansonsten läuft Windows sowieso nicht unter Xen.

Falls das Problem immer noch nicht gelöst ist oder falls jemand anders (wie ich) über google hierauf stolpert und das selbe Problem hat, hier meine Lösung:

Das Problem ist, dass die domU den falschen Bridgenamen eingestellt hat.
(1) Mit "brctl show" in der dom0 kann man sich anzeigen lassen, wie die Bridge wirklich heißt
(2) In der entsprechenden /etc/xen/domU.cfg kann man dann in der vif-Zeile den Bridgenamen einstellen, beispielsweise folgendermaßen:
vif = [ 'type=ioemu,bridge=mybridge' ]
