Hallo,
ich habe mein defektes Motherboard gegen ein neues getauscht und SUSE Linux 10.2 neu installiert, da der neue Prozessor eine EM64T-CPU ist.
Ich nutze eine NVIDIA GeForce 7600 GT von Leadtek mit AGP-Anschluss. Auf der 32-Bit Ebene mit altem Motherboard hatte ich keinerlei Probleme.
Aber nach der Installation des Treibers
NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-1.0-9755-pkg2.run
von der Download-Seite hängt sich das X-System ständig auf.
Den Befehl sax2 -r -m 0=nvidia nimmt das System garnicht an und hängt sich bei der Kalibrierseite von sax2 auf. Ich habe darauf die Datei xorg.conf manuell editiert, wie es in den Howtos der NVIDIA-Download-Seite beschrieben ist.
Die einzige Methode, zur Zeit das X-System zu starten ist die Neuinstallation des o.g. Treibers mit anschließendem startx.
Beim Abmelden hängt das System dann wieder.
Vielleicht hilft ein Blick in die xorg.conf:

Ist der benutzte Treiber möglicherweise eine Nummer zu neu für meine Grafikkarte?
