Ich habe bei dieser Installation ausschliesslich die ubuntu Tools zur Konfiguration des WLAN auf meinem neuen IBM/Lenovo Thikpad R60e verwendet.
Dabei kam ich relativ weit, jetzt scheint aber Schuss zu sein.

Problem:
ich kann die ath0-Schnittstelle mit dem Netzwerk Konfigurationstool zwar sehen, sie wird sogar als "aktiv" angezeigt, aber es findet keinerlei Funkaktivität statt. Ein Deaktivieren mit anschliessendem Aktivieren der ath0 Schnittstelle scheitert.
Anders gesagt: werder der Access-Point sieht den Laptop, noch der Laptop den Access-Point.
Habe inzwischen auch mal versucht das Netz mauell zu starten. Das Ergebnis könnte entscheidende Hinweise liefern. Hier der Auszug:
