Hallo,
habe schon Tage gegoogelt und nur Fehlerbeschreibungen gefunden bei denen Yast das WLan erkannt hat - ist bei mir aber nicht.
LAN funktioniert - nur WLan nicht.
Ist diese Notebook hier: http://www.amazon.de/Hewlett-Packard-RH621ES-Notebook-1-66GHz/dp/tech-data/B000JF8P1W/ref=de_a_smtd/303-9812663-0047420

In Yast ist nix von ieee802 zu finden. Wenn ich das brauch, wo krieg ich das her?

Ist ein Intel Solo Prozessor, und habe OpenSuse 10.2 ix86 DVD installiert.
Dabei den gesamten 'Laptop'-Baum ausgewählt.

Danke schonmal im Voraus, Chris.....

P.S. Die Hardware-Taste fürs W-Lan lässt sich nicht aktivieren (LED bleibt aus). Im Bios ist WLan eingeschaltet

das einzige was dort nach wlan aussieht sind diese module:

^ das hilft wahrscheinlich nicht.

Ich kenn mich mit der Unterstützung von wLan Treibern unter Suse 10 nicht weiter aus. daher kann ich dir nur sagen, wenn du es zum laufen bringen willst, sollte das über den ndiswrapper problemlos gehen.

hast du die wahrscheinlich benötigte firmware installiert?
ich hatte auch ein hp-notebook, das hat mit ipw3945 treiber (+ firmware) funktioniert, allerdings musste ich irgendeine einstellung zum wlan oder wlan-button im bios ändern (vielleicht sowas wie "button abschalten" oder "wlan immer an", habs leider vergessen).

Such mal in YAST nach 3945

Bei meinem HP war es so, daß YAST einfach ein PAket bezüglich dieses WLAN-Chips nicht mit installiert hatte.

Wenn da irgend ein Paket nicht mitinstalliert wurde, einfach anhaken und Neustart, dann geht´s wahrscheinlich. (War bei mir so)

Weiterhin immer "traditionelle Methode mit ifup" verwenden.

So jedenfalls meine Erfahrung.

alles mit 3945 und ieee80211 ist installiert.

Hat denn irgendwer schon die Intel PRO 3945 ABG mit openSUSE 10.2 ans laufen bekommen?

HowTo's habe ich auch gelesen.

Hast Du die Mini-PCI Karte schonmal ausgebaut und nachgeshen ob es sich wirklich um einen ipw3945 handelt?

Welcher Kernel ist installiert? -> "uname -a"

Bei mir lief der ipw3945 mit kernel 2.6.18.x problemlos

Hast Du einen "Centrino" aufkleber drauf? das ist normalerweise auch ein hinweis auf eine Intel-WLAN karte.

Ich hatte soviele Probleme mit meiner Broadcom Karte (im alten notebook), dass ich mir eine ipw2200 gekauft habe.

ist zwar nicht das gelbe vom ei, aber immerhin rennt die ohne probleme ;)

Hallo,
habe schon Tage gegoogelt und nur Fehlerbeschreibungen gefunden bei denen Yast das WLan erkannt hat - ist bei mir aber nicht.
LAN funktioniert - nur WLan nicht.

Bei dem Notebook meiner Frau war ein extra einschalter am Gerät...wo mit man WLan überhaupt erstmal mit Aktiviert, bevor man es nutze konnte..

Ja, das machte mich auch stutzig (die Dell Karte).
Da ich wegen des nicht laufenden WinXP sowieso den HP-Support dran hatte hab ich nach der WLan Karte gefragt, soll eine Intel sein - anhand der Seriennummer identifiziert.
Aber selbst auf der Rückseite des Notebooks findet sich auf den diversen Aufklebern keine Spur von Intel WLan.
Da steht was von "Contains Broadcom Corporation Radio Model BCM94311MCG" ??
Da das Handbuch nur im WinXP zu finden sein soll - was ja nicht läuftm - kann ich nicht mal schnell nachgucken.
Aber jetzt versuche ich mal den besagten BROADCOM Adapter zu installieren...

So, habs endlich geschafft.
Wie das lspci ja schon sagte ist das gar keine Intel sondern eine Broadcom (trotz Verkaufsbeschreibung).
Als ich Diese dann per ndiswrapper installiert habe, ging's trotzdem nicht.
Dann fand ich heraus das jetzt beide installiert waren, ich ging davon aus das die Alte automatisch gelöscht werden würde.
Das habe ich manuell gemacht und ich sah zum ersten mal die blaue LED der WLan-Taste.
Connect zur Fritzbox habe ich dennoch nicht bekommen.
Am Heiligabend dann das Ding mit zu Daddy genommen und siehe da, es geht (ebenfalls WLan aber der Router von Arcor).
Ich dann wieder zur Fritzbox und einen Einstellungsfehler gefunden (wer das wohl war?! :-D )
Nu denn, jetzt gehts,

Da ich ab und zu IT-Unterricht gebe, mache ich damit sicherheitstechnische Analysen von Wireless-Netzen und dafür ist die Atheros besser geeignet ;)

@Chris_TDCi: Wie hast du die Karte nun ans Laufen bekommen? Mit den Windowstreibern? Ich habe das gleiche Notebook und auch hier ist der Broadcom Chipsatz für WLAN verbaut. Die Treiber von der Homepage von HP geben aber nur *.exe Dateien aus. Muss ich die auf einer Windowsmaschine erst irgendwie entpacken? CDs waren bei meinem Notebook nicht dabei :( Hatte die Festplatte auch komplett formatiert um den Rechner von dem MS System zu befreien. Ich wär echt dankbar, wenn du mir dazu noch einn Tipp geben könntest.

Also ich habe meine IPW3945 ohne Probleme unter OpenSUSE 10.2 am laufen. Wurde bei der Installation sauber erkannt und alle Pakete waren gleich installiert. Nur noch die Konfiguration eingeben und alles lief.
Seit ca. 1 Woche läuft auch alles mit KNetworkmanager, gibt eigentlich keine Probleme.

nein, ich habe meine alte PCMCIA Netgearkarte rausgekramt, die funktioniert unterstüzt aber kein WPA :(

Habe versucht nach den Anleitungen mit den Windowstreibern die onboard Karte zum laufen zu bekommen, jedoch ohne Erfolg. Ich nutze den Networkmanager, da ich in der Firma ein festes LAN habe und zu Hause über WLAN online gehe. Mit der Netgearkarte gehts super, Karte rein, Schlüssel kopieren, fertig. Die kann aber nur 11 MBit und eben kein WPA. Der Bluetoothchip im Notebook läuft super, warum nur das WLAN Ding nicht... ???

Thomas, ich weiß nicht mehr im Einzelnen die Schritte die ich durchgeführt hatte.
Ich erinnere mich aber daran dass ich zwei Treiber mit ndiswrapper im System hatte weshalb das nicht geklappt hat.
Lösch daher alle Treiber und fang von vorne an:
ein 'ndiswrapper -l' (Buchstabe L für list) bringt folgendes:

11:59 notebook:~ # ndiswrapper -l
bcmwl5 : driver installed
device (14E4:4311) present
12:00 notebook:~ #
den Treiber in diesem Fall löschen macht:

ndiswrapper -r bcmwl5
Stehen da mehrere, alle löschen (deine PCMCIA Karte natürlich vorher abstecken).
Dann gehst Du nach folgender Anleitung vor: http://de.opensuse.org/SDB:Ndiswrapper.
Klappt das nicht nimmst Du die englische weiter oben, die ist neuer. Ich meine aber die Deutsche genommen zu haben.

Bist Du Dir 100%ig sicher welches WLan Du hast?
Wenn nicht: mach mal ein 'lspci'

Wenn's nicht klappt meld Dich nochmal

Du hast das Gleiche Notebook wie ich? Nicht ganz, denn Du hast Bluetooth, was meins nicht hat.
Vielleicht hast Du eine andere WLan Karte. Wie gesagt, mit lspci vergewissern.
