Hallo,

simsalabim@linux:/var/log> cat /proc/driver/nvidia/agp/status
Status: Disabled

AGP initialization failed, please check the ouput
of the 'dmesg' command and/or your system log file
for additional information on this problem.

In dem "Appendix F. Configuring AGP" steht seltsamerweise aber auch: "The following AGP chipsets are supported by NVIDIA's AGP driver; for all other chipsets it is recommended that you use the AGPGART module." und dann ist da auch der Chipsatz aufgeführt den ich habe: " ... VIA PT880 ...".
Hier mein Mainboard http://www.asrock.com/product/775Dual-VSTA.htm

Section "Screen"
Identifier "Screen[0]"
Device "Device[0]"
Monitor "Monitor[0]"
DefaultDepth 24
Option "Coolbits" "1"

----------------------------

#!
# Skript: Takt.sh
set -xv # xtrace und verbose aktivieren
SCRIPTNAME=$(basename $0 .sh)

EXIT_FAILURE=1
EXIT_ERROR=2
EXIT_BUG=10
EXIT_SUCCESS=0
nvidia-settings -a GPUOverclockingState=1 -a GPU2DClockFreqs=400,177 -a GPU3DClockFreqs=400,177

simsalabim@linux:~> glxinfo
name of display: :0.0
...
1 x PCI Express Graphics slot
1 x AGP 8X slot
..

AGPGART was not recognized so my ATI Radeon 9500 video card could not do direct rendering (DRI) or 3D Acceleration. When you install the drivers without knowing this, you will get the MESA drivers listed instead of the ATI ones but 2D will work just fine and the fglrx driver will load. This can cause MUCH frustration believing the problem is with the ATI drivers.. it isn't! The problem is with the via-agp module not recognizing the PT880 Pro (and Ultra) chipset.
