PostgreSQL: could not connect to server

Nach ein paar Jahren wollte ich mal wieder das Beispiel aus dem Linux-Magazin 03/1999 ausprobieren unter SuSE 10, aber das funktioniert nicht:



postgres@lycee:~> createdb cddb
createdb: could not connect to database template1: could not connect to server: No such file or directory
Is the server running locally and accepting
connections on Unix domain socket "/tmp/.s.PGSQL.5432"?


Irgendwelche Vorschläge? :confused:

Edit: Es lag daran, das zwar postfix aber nicht postmaster lief. Naja, ich bin halt kein Postbote :rolleyes:

Hä? Was hat Postfix mit Postgres zu tun? Naja, hauptsache es läuft.....

Nichts. Das MCP (siehe Tron :)) oder Kernprogramm von Postgres heist irreführenderweise postmaster.
