Hi !

Würde mir gerne ein neues Notebook kaufen und natürlich unter Linux laufen lassen. Näher ins Auge gefasst habe ich zZ:

Ich bin kein Spieler brauche daher keine 3D Karte, aber mit XGL und dem was man vom kommenden KDE4 hört fände ich es dumm jetzt ein Notebook zu kaufen dessen Grafikleistung dafür nicht genügt.
Ich konnte leider keine genauen Informationen zu den verwendeten Chipsätzen finden. Weiss jemand ob das für obiges audreicht ? Oder hat villeicht jemand sogar eins der Notebooks und mag mal dei XGL Live-CD einlegen ?

naja es wäre schon einfacher wenn du nvidia-grafik hättest. und 64mb shared halte ich für xgl auch nicht für ausreichend. allerdings sind das vermutungen ich kann es leider nicht beweisen.

naja, zur zeit trifft das definitiv zu. hab vor ein paar wochen xgl mit meiner gm855 getestet, aber das läuft es nicht wirklich zufriedenstellend. d.h. es ruckelt und es gibt grafikfehler.

aber soweit ich das mitbekommen habe liegt das problem noch an den treibern bzw. an der xgl implementierung. die hardware selbst sollte es nach meiner einschätung problemlos schaffen. immerhin laufen dem notebook auch noch ut99 und q3 akzeptabel, und das sind dann doch etwas aufwendigere berechnungen als ein paar wackelnde fenster mit schatten. redhats aiglx läuft angeblich auf einem intel chip zur zeit auch besser als xgl, hab ich selbst aber noch nicht getestet.

ist schwer zu sagen, da hat so ziemlich jeder seinen eigenen geschmack. ich selber benutze toshiba bin auch sehr zufrieden damit. hab aber auch schon gutes von sony gehört. wobei andere bestimmt auch vom gegenteil überzeugt wurden. ich persönlich würde mir nur noch eins mit nvidia grafik kaufen, da es meines erachtens nach die chips mit der besten linux treiber unterstützung sind.

Gibt nix besseres am Markt ;)

Wer nicht spielen möchte braucht nicht mehr Performance in seinem Notebook.
Wenn KDE mehr als die Performance dieses Systems benötigt, ist's Schrott und sollte verboten werden.

xgl braucht keine schnelle grafikarte, sondern eine mit hw beschleuingtem opengl.

wer würde ut99 oder q3 mit xgl vergleichen. Ist doch klar, das notebook braucht einen schnellen prozessor und ausreichend viel ram ungefähr 512MB bis 1024MB und eine gute grafikkarte wäre gut.

das würde ich so nicht unterschreiben. weder xgl noch aiglx kann man als fertig bezeichnen. zusätzlich benötigen sie noch treiber welche bestimmte features unterstützen und welche heute teilweise noch nicht implementiert sind bzw. in aktuellen distributionen noch nicht enthalten sind (z.b. sollen die inteltreiber vor kurzem besser mit den 3d-desktops zusammen arbeiten, diese sind aber z.b in ubuntu 6.06 nicht enthalten).
von aktuellen entwicklungs-status einen rückschluss auf die benötigte hardware zu ziehen ist meiner meinung voreilig.

Bin ebenfalls am Ueberlegen, ob ich ein thinkpad erstehen sollte (T60 bzw. Z61t). Und die, die in engerer auswahl stehen, haben entweder eine integrierte Intel GMA950, oder eine ATI Radeon X1300 (64mb) bzw. X1400 (128mb).
Auch wenn compiz/Xgl bzw. Aiglx noch nicht vollkommen ausgereift sind, ist es absehbar ob eine integrierte graphikkarte ausreicht oder sind 64mb oder gar 128mb empfehlenswert?
