Ich verwende die Distro Kubuntu 5.10 und habe das Problem, das ich Keine USB-Datenträger mounten kann.
Situation:
USB Stick wird angesteckt.
Das USB Gerät ist ein Handelsüblicher MP3 Player von Creative, der unter Linux funktioniert.
Automount geht nicht.
Gut, mach ichs halt selber.
ich schaue nun via dem command 'tail -f /var/log/messagestail', was der USB Stick für ein gerät ist.

Dann will ich es Mounten, ich weiss, das die Partition eine FAT partition ist (Leuft unter Windows).
Ich versuche also, meinen Stick zu mounten mit dem command
'mount -t vfat /dev/sdb /media/usb/'. Ich bekomme einen fehler:
mount: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on /dev/sdb,
missing codepage or other error
In some cases useful info is found in syslog - try
dmesg | tail or so
so ists bei allen usb-speicher sticks, also hab ich mal gegoogelt und bin auf das problem gestosen.
Jemand meinte, mit volgenden Packete sollte alles wider im butter sein:
Befehl: dpkg --get-selections|grep hal
hal install
hal-device-manager install
libhal-dev install
libhal-storage-dev install
libhal-storage1 install
libhal1 install
Befehl: dpkg --get-selections|grep dbus
dbus install
dbus-1-utils install
libdbus-1-2 install

also hab ich das ebenfals nachgeacht, ohne erfolg.

Ich weis nun wirklich nicht mehr weiter, bei System Settings (Ein KDE Modul) sehe ich übrigens auch kein Menü über Paritionen, was eigentlich da sein müsste. Das Problem könnte aufgetaucht sein, als ich vlc über apt-get instaliert habe, vlc ist mittlerweile deinstaliert.
