Hallo, habe auf dem Medion Notebook MD 96500 Suse Linux 10.0 installiert.

Die Wlan-Karte wurde auch richtig als Intel Pro Wireless 2200BG erkannt.

Wie schalte ich diese jedoch an? Unter Windows erscheint beim Drücken des WLAN-Knopfes (rechts neben der Tastatur) ein Häkchen vor WLAN.

Unter Linux erscheint nichts. Könnte natürlich sein, dass die Karte trotzdem eingeschaltet ist, aber ich komme z. B. nicht ins Internet, obwohl ich unter Yast den richtigen WEP-Schlüssel für meinen Router eingetragen habe.

Was kann ich noch machen?

Zum Debuggen ggf. mal WEP abschalten und so probieren.

Sonst: Konsole - als root - aufrufen.

"dmesg" -> Hinweise auf Initialisierungsfehler suchen
"lsmod" auf geladenes ipw2200 untersuchen
Ggf hier posten:

ping 192....... <IP des WLAN-AP/Routers>

OK, nur: wie übertrage ich die Ausgaben in dieses Forum, wenn das Notebook keinen Internetzugang hat? Diskettenlaufwerk hat es auch nicht. :rolleyes:

USB-Stick?

Oder selbst beurteilen:
Bei ifconfig müssen alle Netzwerkinterfaces gelistet werden (häufig eth0 = LAN, eth1 = WLAN)
Bei iwconfig müßte bei dem WLAN Interface (eth1 !?) wireless extensions aufgelistet werden.
Außerdem steht da "associated" oder "unassociated".
Bei resolv.conf: steht da ein "nameserver"?
Ping: Fehler oder nicht.

Also bis ifconfig sieht alles noch ok aus (dmesg hab ich nicht abgesucht).
iwconfig aber sagt, dass "radio off" ist.

Ich weiss nicht, woran das liegt. Schau doch mal in iwconfig --help, ob es dafür einen Switch gibt, oder ob das Radio HW-seitig abgeschaltet ist. Evtl. ist das eine Spezialiät deines Geräts (mein Notenbook z.B. hat Radio immer on, egal wie oft ich auf die WLAN-Taste drücke ;) -> evtl. mal SuFu/Google).

Und dann würde ich testweise WEP abschalten / am Router wie am PC - dann ist das als Problemquelle mal außen vor. Dein WEP-Key ist z.B. länger als meiner (26 Zeichen).
