So seltsam sich das anhört: Ich kann Quake 3 starten und spielen, allerdings wird bei mir keine Grafik angezeigt. Nur das Intro-Video wird abgespielt. Sobald das zuende ist bzw. sobald ich das abbreche, wird nur das aktuelle Bild (also z.B. aus dem Intro) angezeigt und der Sound im Hauptmenü abgespielt, ich kann auch die Maus bewegen, auf Buttons klicken, mit den Pfeiltasten die Menüeinträge auswählen und mit etwas Geschick/Glück auch das Spiel starten und spielen. Sound höre ich dabei auch, nur wird kein Bild angezeigt.

Außerdem werden ab dem Laden die kleinen quadratischen Bildchen angezeigt, die man auch aus dem Spiel kennt (also z.B. Ziffern von 0-9, die Schriftzüge "Ping", "Time", "Score", kleine Bilder von einzelnen Maps, Bilder von Bots, die Bilder von Healthpacks und co., die auch normalerweise beim Laden angezeigt werden/durchlaufen und jede Menge andere). Daran ändert sich dann auch nichts mehr.

Distribution ist Suse 10, Grafikkarte ist eine ATI Radeon 8500, Treiber der von letztem Wochenende (müsste 8.19.10 sein - im Moment ist bei mir die Seite von ATI ewig langsam, sodass ich nicht nachgucken kann, ob's da was neues gibt).

Tuxracer läuft einwandfrei und glxgears liefert 11680 frames in 5.0 seconds = 2336.000 FPS.

Sieht für mich alles soweit ganz normal aus. :confused:

Habt ihr 'ne Idee, was man da noch machen/ausprobieren könnte? Mal abgesehen von 'nem neuen Treiber, ich komme wie gesagt im Moment nicht auf die Seite von ATI...

EDIT: Vergessen: Quake 3 ist das Pointrelease 1.32b-3

EDIT2: Jetzt klappt's mit der ATI-Seite. Ich werd' mal den neuen Treiber installieren.

Falsch gesetzter r_picmip-wert?

Wohl kaum, da du die q3config.cfg bestimmt testweise gelöscht/verschoben hast. Du hast nicht zufällig ein 64bit-suse mit 32bit-unterstützungslibraries zeugs?

Sonst überprüf mal deine pk3-dateien bzw. installier quake3 neu und poste mal die md5sum deiner /usr/local/games/quake3/baseq3/pak*.pk3

Theoretisch können auch individuelle pak-dateien solche fehelr verursachen.

Hab' die q3config.cfg mal gerade eben umbenannt. Hat aber nichts gebracht. r_picmip ist auf 1 gesetzt.

Wie bekommt man Quake denn wieder sauber vom System runter? /usr/local/games/quake3 und die Symlinks sowie ~/.q3a löschen?

Hab' ein ganz normales 32Bit-Suse 10.0 (Eval)...

EDIT: Ich hab' gerade mal die UT2004 Demo ausprobiert - die läuft...

joah theoretisch noch KDE/Gnome einträge entfernen. Vielleicht kannste auch den pointrelease installer mit ner uninstall option ausführen.

Deine pk3-dateien sind auf jeden fall in ordnung.

Wenn du in dein /usr/local/games/quake3/baseq3 paks reinkopiert hast, dann sollte es reichen testweise ~/.q3a zu verschieben/löschen. Wenn es dann nicht geht liegt es sehr wahrscheinlich nicht an der installation.

Oder kompilier mal Quake3 einfach neu: http://icculus.org/quake3/

Die Neuinstallation hat leider nichts gebracht. Selbst kompiliert habe ich Quake allerdings noch nicht.

Allerdings das gleiche Problem: Das Intro wird abgespielt und danach scheine ich ins Menü zu kommen, wobei der Bildschrim schwarz bleibt.

Könnte das eventuell mit der Farbtiefe zusammenhängen?

In meiner xorg.conf sind 24 Bit eingetragen. Hab' auch mal versucht den Eintrag auf 16 Bit zu ändern, aber das hat X wohl nicht so sehr gefallen, auf jeden Fall ist mein Monitor danach auf Standby gegangen (Samsung SyncMaster 950p plus - also eigentlich kein schlechtes Gerät...):

das ist ein Problem mit fglrx Treibern ab version 8.19.10. Die Version davor funktioniert, hat aber keine Suspend Unterstuetzung. Fuer den Moment wirst Du Dich entscheiden muessen was Dir wichtiger ist, ich hoffe das Problem wird bald behoben..

Das hat fglrxconfig so da eingetragen. Keine Ahnung wieso.

Aber auf Mikeys Ratschlag hin wollte ich mal einen älteren Treiber installieren.

Hat einer 'ne Ahnung, wo ich die alten Versionen noch herbekomme?

Auf ATIs Downloadseite wird - wenn ich nichts übersehen habe - nur der neue Treiber angeboten, und Google spuckt auch nichts brauchbares aus (am liebsten wäre mir halt der Installer, der einem ein distributionsspezifisches RPM-Paket backt...).

EDIT: Ich hab' den Treiber gefunden. Hat zwar erst nach einem Neustart funktioniert, aber immerhin läuft's jetzt. :D
