hallo,
ich will bei meinem neu-installierten fedora system samba installieren und habe es also runtergeladen bei rpmfind.net . als der installer es installieren wollte kam die fehlermeldung:
The file "/tmp/samba-3.0.10-1.fc3.src-1.rpm" is a source RPM which cannot be installed with system-config-packages.
ich habe auch versucht mit dem "paket-management" samba hinzuzufügen, aber da bekam ich die fehlermeldung 'samba-common' müsste installiert sein um fortzufahren.
was soll ich darunter verstehen...
bitte um hilfe...

ich würde samba via yum oder apt-get direkt aus dem internet installieren.
als root:
yum install samba
ok, installation per yum hat gefunzt, aber wo finde ich jetzt die samba-einstellungen im menu?
ich möchte mit dem fedora rechner sowohl auf einen winXp rechner, als auch auf einen kanotix-rechner zugreifen können...

es gibt dafür (unter gnome) ein menüpunkt, den genauen ort kann ich dir aber jetzt nicht sagen, da bei mir fc grade nicht läuft.
Systemwerkzeuge, oder so. schau mal!
oder du editierst mit einem editor /etc/samba/smb.conf
und dann schau dir folgendes noch mal an:

gibt es auch eine möglichkeit über gnome. ich glaube in der netzwerk-einrichtung.
"gnome-config-network" - als root in der konsole!
hmm...
samba läuft aber ich kriege es nicht hin auf den kanotix rechner und die 'download-freigabe' zuzugreifen, obwohl das von dem xp -rechner eiwandfrei klappt, was mache ich falsch?

hast du den win-rechner gemountet wie es im obigen link von feforafaq beschrieben wurde?

prima, das bedeutet du kannst kontakt zu dem winrechner aufnehmen! :D
und jetzt mountest (mit cifs) du noch mal, aber mit der ip statt dem rechnernamen.
mount -t cifs /192.168.0.5/download /mnt/download
[root@localhost sebastian]# mount -t cifs //192.168.0.3/download /mnt/download
mount error: can not change directory into mount target /mnt/download
jetzt gibts das...

bei dem ping-aufruf hattest du 192.168.0.5!
wie ist den nun die ip vom entfernten (windows-)rechner?

ist doch egal, geht alles nicht, ich will übrigens nen kanotix-rechner pingen, der windows-rechner hat ..0.2 und der kanotix-rechner ..0.3 und der fedora ..0.5
das ganze netzwerk läuft über nen router.
