Ich habe mir mal auf meinem PC und Notebook Debian Sarge installiert, soweit so gut. Wegen dem Studium habe ich noch auf dem Notebook java von Blackdown und auf dem PC Java von Blackdown per apt installiert. Nun habe ich noch eclipse 3.0 runtergeladen entpackt und auf dem Notebook läuft es. Auf dem PC nicht, die Frage ist wieso, bei sowas kapituliert man meistens, aber ich hoffe mir wird hier geholfen.

Hast du noch ein anderes Java drauf?
Durch diverse abhängigkeiten installiert apt ganz gerne mal irgendein anderes, welches dann für Probleme sorgt.

Was sagt "which java"?
wahrscheinlich auf /usr/bin/java ..wo zeigt das hin?

Versuch einfach mal dir java von sun zu laden, entpack es in einen ordner deiner wahl, setzt die JAVA_HOME und PATH umgebungsvariable.

Und entferne mal den symlink /usr/bin/java

Dann versuchs noch mal.

Hatte das problem neulich auch, als ich ant per apt installiert habe, und der wieder irgendein java-packet installiert hat, was ich gar nicht wollte.
Das war dann natürlich wieder als erstes im PATH weil /usr/bin/ vor dem verzeichniss stand wo mein java ist - da hat eclipse dann natürlich gemeckert.
