Hallo, seit heute nachmittag ist StarOffice 8.0 Beta draußen.
Hier
http://www.sun.com/software/star/staroffice/index.xml
kann man das File herunterladen.

Dazu gleich eine Frage:
Wie geht man mit dem File "so-8-beta-bin-linux-de.sh" um.
Ich habe mit chmod +x es ausführbar gemacht - aber dann hat er irgndwelche RPM's nicht "parsen" können.
Kann man das überhaupt auf Gentoo intallieren?

Bin für Rückmeldungen dankbar.

Fuer den Zweck wirst Du auch auf Gentoo RPM, den RedHat Package Manager*, installieren koennen und muessen.

Naja, es steht halt dafür, da es auch von vielen anderen Distributionen verwendet wird.
KDE stand auch mal für Kool Desktop Environment. ;)

Habe RPM installiert.
Aber er findet /bin/sh nicht:
Ich habe jetzt rpm installiert. Es wurde alles entpackt (fehlerfrei) Der Installer startete aber er brach kurze Zeit mit einer Fehlermeldung ab:

Hi.

lösch doch mal die Datei
/var/opt/sun/install/productregistry_Office
und starte die Installation erneut.

Hallo, die Datei gibts bei mir (noch) nicht. Bid dahin ist die Installiation nicht gekommen.Das Verzeichnis install ist leer und danach gibts nur noch die logs von den verschieden Installitionsversuchen.

Ich hab das gleiche Problem. Gleiche Fehlermeldung.
Im Betatesterforum (http://www.support-central.de/betaforum/) konnte mir bisher noch nicht weitergeholfen werden.

Klappt's denn überhaupt bei IRGENDJEMANDEM???

...oder hat Sun sich mit der tollen neuen Installroutine ins eigene Knie geschossen?

Ich hab das Ding mal auf meiner Linux machine installiert, ging nur unter Root!

Ansonsten ist das einfach genial, erst der neue Startup bildschirm sieht genial aus, die Menus wirken aufgeräumtg und gut strukturiert, insgesammt macht alles einen viel moderneren Eindruck.

Kann mir jemand, der die deutsche StarOffice 8.0 Beta gerade testet, sagen, ob in der Beta-Version auch schon ein neuer Thesaurus und neue Rechtschreibprüfung mit dabei ist. Wenn ja, könnte man sich ja eventuell diese kopieren und später in die Finalversion von OpenOffice 2.0 einbauen. Oder geht das gar nicht, weil OpenOffice dies nicht zulässt?

Ja, StarOffice/StarSuite 8 hat 26(!) komplett neue Spellchecker.
Und nein, diese sind für von Sun Microssystems lizensiert und sind/werden nicht OpenOffice.org 2.0 enthalten sein.
Weder aus lizensrechtlichen noch aus technischen Gründen werden diese Spellchecker unter OpenOffice.org funktioneren.
Dafür ist OO.o 2.0 halt kostenfrei.

Die Frage war natürlich provokativ gestellt, weil man ja widerrechtlich die Rechtschreib- und Thesaurusmodule von StarOffice 8 Beta in OpenOffice 2.0 einsetzen würde. Aber guck Dir mal meine Signatur an. Ich habe mir StarOffice 7 gekauft, weiss aber, dass OpenOffice 2.0 erheblich mehr Features mitbringt, sodass ich es mir installieren werde. Warum kann ich den jetzt nicht die von mir gekauften Rechtschreib- und Thesaurusmodule von StarOffice 7 in OpenOffice 2.0 nutzen? Ist doch lizentechnisch OK und technisch müsste es ja auch möglich sein, weil die Software sich ja sehr ähnelt. (Die Open Source Ersatzmodule für Rechtschreibung und Thesaurus sind auch kein Ersatz, finde ich)
Ich hatte diese Frage übrigens schon einmal gestellt. Ich wollte die Module von StarOffice 6 in der neuen OpenOffice Version nutzen. Aber es konnte mir damals auch keiner eine genauen Anleitung geben, so nach dem Motto: "kopiere die Dateien xy in den Pfad xy. Und wähle in den Einstellungen xy die neuen Module aus".
Vielleicht hat ja jemand diesmal einen Tipp.
