On behalf of the OpenEmbedded, Opie, GPE, and OpenZaurus teams, I am proud to announce a new release of our OpenZaurus Linux distribution - version 3.5.1.
OpenZaurus 3.5.1 comes in three flavours:
Bootstrap-Image: For special purposes, no GUI environment installed
Opie-Image: Preinstalled with the Qt/Embedded based Open Palmtop Integrated Environment
GPE-Image: Preinstalled with the X Window based G Palmtop Environment
Flashable Images and Feeds are available via the web browser. Complete source packages to build the whole distribution from scratch will follow soon as will the GPE images which are still cooking as I write this.
Supported devices for this release are all available Sharp Linux Zaurus models except the SL-A300 and the SL-6000. Support for the latter is under construction and will most likely debut in version 3.5.2.
This release marks an important milestone in the history of OpenZaurus, since it has been created from scratch using the OpenEmbedded build system (Yes, thanks to our new build system we will make more frequent releases in the future :)) More information about the overall project status can be found in the next edition of our official newsletter.
