Hallo.
Habe weiter unten einen Thread gefunden der genau mein Problem trifft. Leider hat sich der Ersteller nicht mehr gemeldet ob und wenn wie er das Problem behoben hat.
Ich poste hier noch einmal den Fehler in der Hoffnung das mir einer helfen kann:
Hallo Leute,
Habe SUSE 9.1 auf einem Toshiba Laptop installiert. Alles ohne Probleme. Allerdings sind beim Online Update die neuen Treiber von NVIDIA (Ver. 5336) für meine GeForce 4 420 Go installiert worden. Ich habe jetzt das Problem, dass ich nur noch eine Auflösung von 800x600 auswählen kann. Habe schon sämtliche Lösungen die gepostet worden sind probiert, leider ohne Erfolg. Ich kann unter SAX2 alles richtig Konfigurieren, allerdings wenn ich die Einstellungen Abschließen möchte, geht XFINE2 auf, um die Bildschirm-Geometrie einzustellen. Dort ist nur eine Auflösung von 800x600 angegeben. Die Folge: Das Bild hat nur eine Auflösung von 800x600 anstatt 1024x768 und das Bild ist um ca 2cm nach links verschoben. Angezeigt wird aber 1024x768. :mad:
Mit dem normalen Treiber kann ich echte 1024x768 aber der unterstützt nicht 3D.
Wie kann ich also 3D mit dem neuen Treiber nutzen? Liegt es an meinem Laptop, an Suse oder an anderen Einstellungen?
Ich habe Auf den Suse Support Seiten gesucht. Ich habe den Treiber manuell installiert und und. Mit dem Treiber kriege ich nur 800x600 hin. Dann aber 3D und das merkt man auch. Ich finde die Lösung allerdings, wenn ich mal was spielen will, nicht so genial jedesmal mit sax2 den treiber und 3D zu aktivieren. Dem jenigen der mir hierbei hilft den Treiber vernünftig anzupassen gebe ich ne Kiste Bier aus. Oder Wasser ;)

Ich kriegs nicht hin. Wenn ich die Datei änder passiert das gleiche. Ich weis bald nicht mehr weiter. Da ich erst seit 2 Wochen Linux aufgespielt habe mache ich ja ev grundlegend einen Fehler.
Ev kann mir hier einer helfen?

Sieht soweit gut aus - versuche doch mal folgendes:
nimm die modelines mit 800x600 raus also:
Modeline "800x600" 40.00 800 840 968 1056 600 601 605 628
und auch noch diese Zeile:
Modes "1024x768" "800x600" "640x480" -->
hier läßt Du nur die 1024x768 stehen, also
Modes "1024x768"

Werde ich morgen alles machen. Habe grade erstmal die Suse 9.1 runtergeschmissen und bin am Fedora Core 2 installieren in der Hoffnung das es mit Fedora besser funktioniert.
Ich denke mal morgen abend komm ich dann wieder dazu, die Treiber zu installieren etc.
So.
Nichts zu machen. Unter Fedora kriege ich sobald ich den Treiber eingespielt habe und die conf veränder keinen Systemstart mehr hin. Das System startet und kurz danach wird der Bildschirm schwarz.
Unter Suse 9.1 kann ich wenn ich 3 D aktiviere nur 800x600 mit schwarzen Rand.
Es ist zum verrückt werden.
Auch dein Tip mit dem löschen der anderen Auflösungen hat nichts gebracht. Hat denn sonst keiner ne Idee oder ev sogar ne Lösung? :confused:

Habe den neusten Treiber installiert.
Anschließend habe ich mich exact an die Anleitung gehalten und sämtliche Einträge in der XF86 und in der modules.conf gemacht.
Neustart und zack :D
