About Skippy
Skippy is what (I think) is best described as a full-screen task-switcher for X11. It tries to provide an alternative when taskbars or regular task-switchers aren't the most efficient way of switching tasks (like when you have a lot of applications open). When activated (currently only through a hotkey), it will arrange and scale snapshots of all windows on the current desktop and it'll let you pick a window using a mouse or a keyboard. Yes, this is also what expocity and Apple's Expose do (yeah, I know, Expose does more than just this), but I don't like metacity (expocity is a 'hacked up' version of that) and I don't have a Mac.


Ich hab's mal ausprobiert und funktioniert 1A mit Openbox3
Voraussetzung ist ein "NETWM or GNOME WM Specs compliant window-manager".

Also für die Leute, die wegen Exposé nicht extra auf Exposity umsteigen möchten, oder keine Animation der Fenster brauchen, könnte Skippy eine Alternative sein.

Hab's gerade ausprobiert mit : Enlightenment Version: 0.16.6 funktioniert es.
Du solltest nur Gnome-support drin haben.

axo, mein Notebook hat nur eine Enter-Taste :ugly:
Und auf Fn+Enter reagiert die auch nicht.

Wo lernt man diesen komischen Dialekt, damit ich mir was schlaueres aussuchen kann?

(Mit Gnome - d.h. Metacity gehts übrigens mit F11, mit Enlightenment nur mit externer Tastatur ;))

Oh. Kommando zurück!
Versuch mal Rechte-Alt-Taste+Enter, oder Alt-GR+Enter.
Ich hab vergessen, dass ich ein paar Tasten umgelegt habe.

Nach xmodmap -pke, hat KP_Enter bei mir den Keycode 108, was auf meinem Ibook fn+Enter entspricht. Du kannst ja mal ein bisschen mit xev rumspielen, obwohl das auch nur try and error ist.

Ist zwar auf VMS bezogen, aber dort steht irgendwo eine Tabelle.

Edit: Achja soviel ich weiss, beziehen sich die KP-Tasten auf das Nummernfeld einer Standard PC Tastatur (Falls das nicht stimmen sollte, bitte verbessern). Ansonsten findest du die restlichen Tasten mit "xmodmap -pke".
Ist eigentlich selbstklärend. Also nichts zum erlernen. :p

Kann ich bei meiner Logitech MX700 nicht die eine "Fenster-Taste" damit belegen? Das wäre dann ja richtig super! (Dafür ist die ja eigentlich da)

Ich habs jetzt einfach unter Gentoo installiert und es funkt wunderbar. Es funkt sogar im XFCE4. ;)

Ich weiss es nicht - das fällt möglicherweise unter die Probleme bei denen der Autor nix machen kann. Ich schreib ihm mal ne Mail.

Naja, von mir aus müssten eigentlich auch gar nicht alle Apps auf demselben Desktop (von Multiple Desktops) dabei sein (allenfalls als Option) - sondern nur alle von einem Virtual Desktop.

(Die Bezeichnungen bei Enlightenment sind n bisschen verwirrend für nicht E-User ;))

Nette Idee, aber irgendwie dauert das zu lange für mich.

Erst F11 drücken und dann dauert's 1-2 Sekunden bis die "Taskübersicht" kommt (auch bei nur 3 Fenstern), da ist mir meine Iconbox doch irgendwie lieber.

das ist genau das gleiche Problem wie bei expocity - zuerst müssen von allen Fenstern Screenshots gemacht werden.
Und dann werden die noch verkleinert...

ich habs auch mal ausprobiert. eigentlich ganz witzig. habs mal in meine xinitrc geschmissen. werd jetzt mal gucken wie oft ichs benutze. aber glaub fast nicht so oft, da ich meistens eh nur wenige fenster offen hab pro desktop. aber ne nette idee.

laut der skippy-homepage kann die XD-Version nicht bloß Bilder von den Fenstern wiedergeben, sondern gibt den Inhalt live wieder...

Skippy-XD is a version of Skippy that uses the new XDamage, XComposite and XFixes extensions (found in FreeDesktop.org's Xserver project) to provide you with 'live' versions of the windows. Exciting, isn't it?


Bei mir tut sich einfach nichts wenn ich F11 drücke. Die Conf Datei ist an ihrem Platz. Wenn ich die Taste bsp auf KP_Enter abaendere, bekomme ich oben beschriebene Fehlermeldung und kann Skippy nicht starten.
Kann mir jemand helfen ?
