Hallo,
ich verzweifele hier schon langsam... hab mir die neusten treiber von der nvidia homepage installiert.
das klappte auch (vermute ich) in der xf86config datei hab ich nv in nvidia geändert. WEnn ich das mache geht die kde nicht mehr: no screens. wenn da noch nv steht gehts...
hab jetzt das programm xf86config probiert und dann kommt das gleiche.
weis jemand einen rat? schon mal danke.

Wir brauchen die genaue Fehlermeldung (/var/log) und den von Dir verwendeten Kernel.

Welche Karte verwendest Du überhaupt?

Wird unter PCLinuxOS und Mepis Linux der GLX-Treiber automatisch aktiv?

hmm in der log XFree86.0.log steht der Fehler nicht oder ich seh ihn nicht.

Hi,
also was heisst "neuesten Treiber"?
Du brauchst den NVIDIA-Linux-x86-1.0-5336-pkg1.run (http://download.nvidia.com/XFree86/Linux-x86/1.0-5336/NVIDIA-Linux-x86-1.0-5336-pkg1.run) sonst wird's nie was.
Dann musst Du die XF86Config-4 ändern. Unter Section Module musst Du unter Load "dbe" noch den Eintrag Load "glx" nachtragen.
Dann musst Du (hast Du zwar geschrieben, aber der Formhalber) unter Section Device den Eintrag Driver "nv" abändern in Driver "nvidia" .
Jetzt musst Du noch unter /etc/modules nvidia eintragen und unter /etc/modules.conf alias /dev/nvidia* nvidia.
Nach dem Du den NVIDIA-Treiber installiert hast musst Du noch eingeben:
/sbin/modprobe nvidia
und
/sbin/depmod -ae
Danach prüfe noch ob Du unter /usr/X11R6/lib/modules/extensions diese zwei Einträge findest:
libglx.so.1.0.5336
und
libglx.so dieses ist aber ein Symlink!

Wenn Du das alles gemacht hast kannst Du startx eingeben.......

Nuaja - unter Mdk 10 mußte ich nichts dergleichen unternehmen - hab einfach den Treiber installiert und "nvidia" am richtigen Ort in die XF86Config-4 geschrieben, der Rest passt schon, wenns nur darum geht, mal den Treiber zum Laufen zu bekommen. Nur muß die Installation halt fehlerfrei vonstatten gehen/gegangen sein

Bei der Installation kam das der den Kernel nicht findet und einen eigenen compeliert oder so.
