TNT2 zu alt für X???

Hi @ all,

ich habe bei mir einen Linux Router:
500Mhz, TNT2, SuSE 9.0

Jetzt wollte ich den neuen NVIDIA Treiber installieren, weil ich auf dem Rechner die 3D unterstützung benötige um einen RTCW:ET Dedicated Server aufzumachen (Ich kann zwar auch den Dedicated Server so starte, habe bisher jedoch nicht die Befehle gefunden um die Maps etc. zu laden ;) )

Zurück zum Treiberproblem,
mitlehrweile habe ich wohl schon alles ausprobiert, was hier im Forum funktioniert hat, doch dann bin ich jetzt auf etwas gestosen, was hier wohl noch keinem passiert ist.
Wenn ich sax starte und das Modul nvidia mitladen lasse: "sax2 -m 0=nvidia"
Bekomme ich folgende Fehlermeldung:


SaX: startup

Wenn ich von das Modul nicht mitgebe und in Sax die 3D Beschleunigung aktiviere, nimmt er zwar den nvidia Treiber, gibt jedoch wenn ich einen Testserver starten will folgenden fehler:


[EE] Screen(s) found, but non have a usable configuration...


Ein "/sbin/modprobe -v nvidia" gibt mir nix zurück, sollte ja positiv sein :)

Sax ist sogar öfters mal dazu geneigt abzustürzen :( mit dem nvidia Treiber.


Hoffentlich kann mir jemand helfen.

Moin,
kann das sein das du den Nvidia Treiber schon installiert hast?
Du sagtest ja, das "/sbin/modprobe -v nvidia" nichts zurück gab, kontrollier deshalb nochmal mit
"lsmod | grep nvidia", ob der Treiber auch wirklich geladen ist.
Wenn dann sowas kommt:

> lsmod | grep nvidia
nvidia 2071048 12

Ist das schon mal ganz gut.

Dann öffnest du mit einen Editor deiner Wahl die Datei /etc/X11/XF86Config, und suchst nach der Zeile
---
Driver "nv"
---
und änderst diese in
---
Driver "nvidia"
---
Danach sollte es eigentlich gehen.

Sax kannst du dabei getrost ausser acht lassen.
Wenn du hier im Forum suchst, wirst du feststellen, das es mit Sax und den aktuellen Nvidia Treiber öfter Probleme gibt.

Kann mir auf dem Weg vielleicht einer erklären wie man XF über CVS aktualisiert, steig irgentwie auf http://www.xfree86.org/cvs/ nicht durch :ugly:
Aber da scheint ja der Fehler zu liegen, also in der Version, wenn ich mir genauer durchlese was der mir zurück gibt

Habe eine Lösung gefunden, die da sich nannte "SuSE Support Database" ;)

Also es lag an den Bios Einstellungen,
