auf http://www.distrowatch.com/ steht schon das es eine rc3 Version gibt.
Auf der Homepage von xine leider noch nicht.
Muss jeder selber entscheiden was er davon hält.

Aber da gibt es tatsächlich seit 16.12.2003 eine RC3 Version. Dort findet man sogar eine Changelog:

Jetzt ist es auch offiziell raus. Allerdings mit einer kräftig zusammengefassten Changelog:

1-rc3 is a maintenance release: Lots of bugs have been fixed, most of the
code has been reviewed and cleaned up, and many little details are improved.
Compared to 1-rc2, you'll probably notice

* much smoother subtitles
* smaller startup delay
* improved stability
