    Meine Boot-hänger sind garkeine :-(

    Hallo zusammen,

    ich nutze Suse 10.1 und KDE 3.5.7 auf einem Dell Dimension 5000.
    In den letzten Monaten hatte ich immer mal wieder "boothänger", die sich so äußerten:
    Nach der Auswahl im Grub-Menü erscheint bei Suse 10.1 das blaue Bild, auf dem unten der sich drehende Kreis auftaucht. Normalerweise kommt man dann mit der <ESC>-Taste auf die Bootmeldungen. Manchmal blieb der Schirm sehr lange stehen und ich konnte mit <ESC> NICHT auf die Bootmeldungen wechseln. Es sah also so aus, als würde er hängen. Üblicherweise habe ich dann durch einen langen Druck auf den Power-Knopf hart ausgeschaltet. Beim nächsten Reboot war alles OK.

    GESTERN sah die Welt plötzlich anders aus: Ich hatte erstens Geduld und zweitens Ruhe im Büro. Daher ist mir folgendes aufgefallen:
    - Der "drehend" Kreis war wieder etwas länger zu sehen und ich wollte die Boot-Meldungen sehen. Keine Reaktion auf die <ESC>-Taste. Allerdings habe ich die (sehr leisen) Platten noch arbeiten hören. Der Rechner lief also noch.
    Es hörte sich auch so an, als würde der normale Boot-Prozess laufen. Interessanterweise brannte auf der Tastatur keine LED und auch das Licht der optischen Maus war aus. So als wären die USB-Ports ohne Strom. Die gingen aber zumindest im GRUB-Menü noch, denn dort habe ich die Auswahl bestätigt. Mein Verdacht ist, daß das schon immer bei den "hängern" so war, ich aber nie genau hingesehen habe.
    Seltsam war dann aber, das irgendwann (zeitlich ungefähr da, wo der X-login kommen sollte) der Bildschirm in den Standby-Modus gewechselt ist. Nach aus- und Einschalten kam auf dem Schirm "Kein Signal".
    Ein kurzer Druck auf den Power-Knopf hat offenbar den Shutdown-Prozess gestartet und nach ca. 20 Sekunden hat sich der REchner ausgeschaltet.

    Ich fasse zusammen:
    - Der Rechner an sich lief und lies sich auch korrekt runer fahren
    - Die USB-Ports gingen bei GRUB noch, danach waren sie sozusagen "stromlos"
    - Die Grafikkarte hat irgendwann den Ausgang deaktiviert

    Meine Frage: Woran kann das liegen? Wo fange ich am besten an zu suchen?
    Google hat nix gewusst oder ich nach den falschen Worten gesucht.
    Im Rahmen früherer Analyseversuche habe ich zumindest in warn und den xorg-logs nichts gefunden.
    Kennt vielleicht jemand so ein Verhalten?

    Ich habe schon an HW-defekt gedacht. Aber: In Grub geht ja alles. Und auch sonst geht alles, bis auf ca. 1 Boot alle 14 Tage.
    Zur Analyse habe ich schon die RAMs getauscht: Ohne Ergebnis (hatte ja bis gestern an echte hänger geglaubt).
    Wenn USB defekt wäre - wieso geht dann der Monitor aus?
    Wenn was grundlegendes defekt wäre: Wieso steht in warn oder xorg-log nix drin?

    Hallo,

    ich würde erstmal den Splash-Screen im Grub abschalten, dann siehst Du von anfang an die Bootmeldungen.

    In der Kernel-Zeile oder der Optionen-Zeile sollte dazu etwas stehen wie "splash=..." oder "verbose=..."

    Trag in der /boot/grub/menu.lst in der Zeile mit dem Kernelaufruf splash=native oder splash=verbose ein (wurde von Luzi P ja auch schon angeregt).

    Kommst Du statt mit "esc" vllt. mit <strg><alt><F10> auf ein virt. Terminal? Die älteren SuSE Versionen haben die Boot-/Systemmeldungen auf tty10 abgelegt, sonst wäre tty1 der nächste Verdächtige.

    Hast Du remote Zugang zu dem Rechner? Dann probier doch mal, ob Du Dich z.B. per ssh dort anmelden kannst, vllt. läuft der entsprechende Dienst ja schon...

    Vllt. liegt das Verhalten auch nur an dem periodischen fsck, den das System entweder alle x-mal booten oder alle x-Tage durchführt. Dann solltest Du aber zumindest die Meldungen erreichen können...

    Mit den Bootmeldungen werden wir wahrscheinlich schlauer. Werden die Meldungen älterer Vorgänge nicht über logrotate in /var/log/boot.irgendwas archiviert? Sieh dort mal nach.

    Hallo Kreol,

    Auf tty10 komme ich nicht. Die Tastatur ist wie gesagt TOT. Maus auch. Deshalb tippe ich ja auf ein Problem im USB-Umfeld.

    Den Boot-Parameter füge ich mal ein, es kann dann nur eine Weile dauern, bis sich das Problem mal wieder zeigt. So lange hänge ich in der Luft ;-)

    An den fsck hatte ich zuerst auch gedacht, aber der wird doch nicht die Tastatur und Maus abschießen?

    Mein Problem war, daß ich auf der Suche nach Fehlermeldungen zu früheren zeiten (als ich noch an echte freezes glaubte) auch in boot.old (oderwiediejetztgenauheißen) nix gefunden habe. Leider. Aber ich schau nochmal nach.

    Ja stell mal den Bootsplash ab und schau ob das Modul usb-hid geladen wird. Wenn nicht hätten wir ne Ursache gefunden.

    Es ist wahrscheinlich ein Problem bei der USB-Erkennung.
    Habe das Problem bei OpenSUSE 10.2 und bei SuSE linux 10.0 auch.
    Ich glaube es liegt am SuSE-Kernel. (Bei SuSE gibt es keine Kernel-Updates).
    Ich würde mal warten bis die Version 10.4 von OpenSUSE draussen ist und die dann installieren. (Ich befürchte das OpenSUSE 10.3 ein Flick-Werk wird.

    Schau Dir mal http://www.linuxforen.de/forums/show....php?p=1554536, dort insbesondere #11 an. Damit kannst Du Dir Kernel-updates auch für SuSE ziehen, wenn Du nicht selbst einen bauen willst (was auch bei SuSE geht...)

    Heute wieder passiert

    hallo zusammen,

    heute isses wieder passiert :-( Er hat sich "aufgehängt".
    Das letzte, was ich auf dem Bildschirm mit den Boot-Messages gesehen habe war:

    Danke. Nein, das hatte ich noch nicht gesehen. Ich habe es mal aktiviert. Allerdings kommt mir die Fehlerbeschreibung vor als ob das IMMER passieren würde. Nicht nur sporadisch, wie bei mir. Insofern bin ich mir nicht sicher, ob das mein Problem löst. Es ist halt wie immer: Die Hoffnung stirbt zuletzt ;-)

    heute war es wieder so weit. Er hat die Maus und die Tastatur abgehangen und ich konnte nix mehr machen. Den Parameter aus dem Post von temir habe ich gesetzt. Hat also nix geholfen.
    Ich habe ihn diesmal aber durchlaufen lassen und nun auch eine aktuelle boot.omsg vom verunglückten Startversuch. Nur sagt mir das alles nicht viel...

    Ich hänge mal zwei Files an:
    jeweils das Ergebnis der Zeile: cat boot.omsg | grep usb > filenamexyz

    Einmal von einem normalen Boot, einmal von einem mit Hänger. Mir fällt zumindest auf, daß die Reihenfolegn unterschiedlich sind, und bei dem geglückten Boot mehr Einträge vorhanden sind. Insbes. die Meldung zum usbcore... hiddev kommt an völlig unterschiedlichen Stellen. Sagt das jemandem was?
