    Firewall oder KInternet stürzt ab

    Hi Leute,

    auf unserem SoHo-Server läuft unter anderem SuseFirewall2, welche das interne (eth) mit dem externen Netz (dsl0, 1&1 DSL flat) verbindet (=routing). Die Einwahl ins Internet erfolgt automatisch (dial on demand) mittels KInternet.

    Es funktioniert eigentlich alles wunderbar nur sollte der Server für 24/7-Betrieb ausgelegt sein. Leider stürzt mir so nach 2 bis 3 Wochen etwas ab. Ich vermute mal es ist die Firewall oder KInternet. Nach so einem Absturz kommt man nicht mehr ins Internet; weder am Server, noch an einer Workstation. Nach einem Neustart des Servers funktioniert wieder alles wunderbar.

    OS:
    Suse Linux 10.0, Kernel 2.6.13-15.8 TUE Feb2006, alle wichtigen updates

    Hardware:
    Dell OptiPlex GX110, PIII 933MHz, 256MB Ram, 300GB HDD, 2.Nic zum Modem

    bisher probiert:
    bessere PC-Kühlung, Suse 9.0 --> alles erfolglos, immer noch genau das gleiche Problem

    Wenn jemand spontan eine Idee hätte wäre das wirklich klasse. Ich kann gerne noch log-files posten - sagt mir einfach welche.

    Statt den Server neu zu starten, solltest du lieber auf der Console
    Code:
    rcnetwork restart dsl0
    eingeben.

    vielen dank für deinen Hinweis. Ich werde es beim nächsten Absturz mit restart neustarten.

    Hat noch jemend eine Idee, an was die Abstürze liegen könnten. Bitte helft mir.

    Hallo,

    ich habe eine ältere SuSE. Wenn sich da nix geändert hat, sollten die Angaben vom smppd und dem pppd in /var/log/messages auftauchen.
    Du solltest mal in der entsprechenden Zeit in dieser Datei unter [pppd] gucken.

    unter pppd gibt es Angaben.
    Am 26.Mai zwischen 23.00 und 24.00 hatte ich einen Absturz. In dieser Zeit finde ich in den messages u.a. Modem hangup und etwas mit DHCP Server. Das finde ich etwas komisch, zumal im ganzen Netz kein DHCP-Server läuft.

    Leider habe ich zuwenig Ahnung, die messages zu interpretieren und auszuwerten. Daher poste ich sie einfach mal.

    wie von fragenhaber erwähnt habe ich daraufhin den Server nicht neu gebootet, sondern dsl0 neugestartet.
    War aber leider erfolgos.

    Dann die interne NIC neugestartet.
    War ebenfalls erfolglos.

    Dann die externe NIC neugestartet.
    Dann war wieder alles ok

    geb eth1 mal eine feste IP die nicht aus deinem eigenem Netz kommt, zB 192.168.200.254/24

    bin eigentlich auch noch neu hier, aber mit i-net hab ich mich auch schon rumgeschlagen...
    wie umgehst du denn die zwangstrennung??
    ich hatte das prob auch so ähnlich...

    versuch doch einfach mal mit nem cronjob jeden tag um 03:00 den befehl /etc/init.d/network restart oder stop start....

    da wird jeden tag das netzwerk neu gestartet...
    is vielleicht net das beste bzw eleganteste, aber vielleicht hilfts ja...

    cronjob wäre eine denkbare Möglichkeit. Schöner wärs die Urasche des Problems zu beheben.

    Fixe IP habe ich inzwischen vergeben. Und es ist sehr lange ohne Probleme gelaufen bis zum Absturz
    dsl0 und die eth`s zu restarten hat leider nicht geholfen. Erst das Modem AUS- und wieder EinSchalten hat geholfen.

    Auffällig ist auch wieder das
    *Timeout waiting for PADO packets
    *Unable to complete PPPoE Discovery

    und das Problem konnte auch wieder mit Ein- und Ausschalten des Modems behoben werden.

    Liegts wirklich am Modem?

    Gibts für den Modem hard-Reset einen Befehl? um z.B. dies mit einem cronjob zu automatisieren oder von der console aus zu tätigen.

    währe gerade über jegliche Hilfe erfreut; habe mich schon so gefreut, als es anfangs so stabil funktioniert hat.
