hi,


hab das mit der radeon8500 aufgegeben und will niemanden mehr damit belästigen... jez besitze ich aber eine geforce4mx 440 :(

hab die treiber richtig installiert denke ich, also erst den kernel und dann das .glx ... hat keine error oder sowas gebracht... x neugestartet alles paletti... hatte zuvor die nvidia treiber von suse8.1 drauf, die ich vorher gelöscht habe. 3d ist aktiviert. aber ich habe etwas wenig fps, auf holarse steht das ich fast 10000 haben sollte.

nun starte ich glxgears und es kommt folgendes:

1699 frames in 5.0 seconds = 339.800 FPS
1890 frames in 5.0 seconds = 378.000 FPS
1866 frames in 5.0 seconds = 373.200 FPS
1884 frames in 5.0 seconds = 376.800 FPS

sollte ich da noch was in der xconfig einstellen ?

Hat zwar glaube ich nicht direkt etwas mit dem Poblem zu tun aber "integer" steht für einen Wert
Laut Nvidia Readme zwischen 0 - 32.
Hab aber auch schon gelesen von 0 - 256 ( Neueste Treiber)

Also Option "DigitalVibrance" "100"

Diesen Wert habe ich für angenehm empfunden. Etwas probieren.

Und Poste bitte dein "/usr/var/XFree86.0.log" File um dir helfen zu können.

Hab die gleiche Karte - ist ein Mist weil sie OpenGL nicht vollständig unterstützt - bin ich zu spät draufgekommen - es steht auch nichts im Handbuch von Linuxunterstützung bei den MX nur bei den Ti - unter Win ist sie für den Preis auch lahm und nicht viel besser als eine ATI Xpert 2000 die nur ~35? kostet bei machen Spielen.
Vielleicht kann das die neuere Version schon besser?

schon mal "switch2nvidia" als root probiert - oder gibts das bei 8.1 nicht mehr?
warum hast du die SuSE-Treiber gelöscht - die bieten doch bei online - update auch die 3d-Treiber an- das sind die gleichen wie bei www.nvidia.com bzw. meist eine ältere Version!!

ich habe mal ein Update gemacht hat - hat auch funktioniert nur bringen die 2880 mehr leistung und X startet wesentlich schneller!
welche Treiberversion hast du installiert - außerdem kannst du mit "rpm -q Nvidia_GLX" auch testen ob sie wirklich installiert sind!
außerdem welchen AGP-Modus verwendet deine Karte - aus der XF86Config ist das nicht ersichtlich bzw sind alle Optionen mit "#" gekennzeichnet
glxinfo -> zeigt das glaube ich auch an ob AGP verwendet wird

bei mir liefert gears 3000FPS bei 16bit in der größe wie sich das Fenster öffnet
bei Vollbild 1024x768 sinds glaub ich ~400FPS
bei dir müßte locker das doppelte drin sein mit der XP-CPU

glxgears is sehr klein, also nur ein kleines fenster... keine ahnung welche auflösung

mit dem wert "100" bei DigitalVibrance habe ich ein beschissenes bild, und die fps ändern sich auch ned, ich lasse es mal auf 0

ahja, by the way, quake3arena kann ich spielen mit 800x600 ohne probs, bei 1024x768 ruckelts nen bissle bei höheren auflösungen is es kaum spielbar... demnach ist 3d bzw opengl schon aktiv :)

glxinfo geht bei dir als root sehe ich *wunder* normal verweigert SuSE bei mir weil root keine Berechtigung hat den X11 zu öffnen.
gehts als user auch? schon mal probiert als root 3D-Spiele zu starten? aber bitte ohne Gewährleistung von mir
was ist mit glxinfo als user -> gleiche Ausgabe?
meiner Meinung nach scheint alles in O. zu sein

in meiner Readme von Nvidia steht unter XF86Config Optionen nichts von "Digital Vibrance" vielleicht liegt da das Problem mach mal ein "#" vor diese Option wozu die auch immer sein soll?
Das die Spiele laufen muß nicht heißen das OpenGL funktioniert bei einem XP müßte die Software emu doch auch was hergeben oder?

oh, wusste nicht das das ausschlaggebend ist ob man als root oder user angemeldet ist, aber ich quake3 als root spielen und genauso schnell wie als normaler user, glxgears zeigt bei nem user auch das selbe an ( ca 400fps )

was soll ich genau mit dem 3Ddiag machen ?

3Ddiag Diagnose gibt Fehlermeldungen wenn Bbliotheken fehlen oder sonstige Problem bestehen
aber wenn ...done steht dürfte allles in O. sein

Audzug aus Nvidia Readme:

Option "DigitalVibrance" "integer"
Aktiviert Digital Vibrance Control. Es gibt 4 Optionen:
3, 2, 1 and off (0). Diese Function wird nur auf GeForce2
MX (und 200/400), GeForce2 Go, Quadro2 MXR/EX, Quadro2 Go,
GeForce3 and Ti Varianten, Quadro DDC, alle GeForce4 und
Quadro4 Varianten.

Standard: off (deaktiviert)


ps: Diese Funktion bestimmt im Grunde die Farbhelligkeit wobei die Werte bis 156 gehen
Man bekommt kräftigere Farben.

Und bitte poste dein "XFree86.0.log File". Das File liegt unter /var/log.

Laut der Log Datei benutzt du kein AGP zumindest kann er es nicht überprüfen.

Probier mal unter Device folgendes

Option "NvAgp" "3"

Ausserdem laut XFree86 log benutzt du Version 2960 der Nvidia Treiber

Die neuesten sind 4191.

Bei der Neuesten Version wurde das Modul umbenant in "nvidia"
Frühere Versionen hießen NvModul "--> bin mir nicht mehr sicher"
Dies könntest du ebenfalls mal probieren! Aber schön der reihe nach.

Naja probier mal diese neue Option und poste hinterher das neue XFree86.0.log

probier ich sofort mal aus, aber ich hab den neuesten treiber drauf, dieser 2960 ist der neueste laut nvidia, den 4191 kann ich ned nehmen, da in der liste nur bis gf3 steht und von gf4 nix zu lesen ist. oder kann ich den auch nehmen ?

sorry hab deinen letzten thread übersehen - welche Option für AGP verwendest du jetzt - schon verschiedene ausprobiert? was meint die xconsole beim Start die Treiber melden sich wenn sie die verschiedenen AGP-Modi mit dem Nvidiakernel testen.

den alten treiber ( 2960 ) hab ich mit den sourcen installiert nicht als rpm, und den neuen ( 4191 ) hab ich vorhen mit den rpms ( für suse8.1 :) ) installiert.

Hat sich aber performance maässig nichts getan.

den nvorce treiber ich nicht installiert da er nur für die onboard kompenten ( sound und lan ) ist... also hab ich dort gelesen auf nvidia.de .... von agp stand da nix

schon verschiedene AGP-Optionen ausprobiert - die xconsole müßte sich beim starten melden wenn der nvidia-kernel den AGP testet - oder ist da nur stille

ach, jetzt hab ich die schnauze entgültig voll von dem nforce2 board, ich hol mir ein anderes mobo... dann geht wenigsten alles, ich brauch nen funktionfähigen pc, und keine bastelkiste

kannste mir nen board empfehlen wo 100% mit linux funzt ?

dachte da an sis745 oder kt333 ... oder gibts noch andere ?
