checkinstall Installation

Hi ich versuche gerade checkinstall zu installieren. Ich hab ein make, make install gemacht und danach hatte ich ja das neue Kommando checkinstall. Beim Aufruf von checkinstall kam das hier:

Was bedeutet das und was muss ich tun?

Warum benutzt du die beta Version ? Nimm besser die Stable Version: 1.5.3

führt du das ganze auch als root aus ?
