Hallo Leute,

bin bei der Suche nach der Lösung meines X-Server-Problems über die Linuxforen gestolpert -
und bin angenehm von dem hier herrschenden Umgangston, und der Qualität der Boardbeiträge
überrascht, so daß ich mich sofort angemeldet habe :)

Seit nunmehr geraumer Zeit ;) versuche ich X-Window unter Mandrake 8.2 zum Laufen zu bekommen.
Kurz nach Start des X-Servers (auch während Konfigurationsversuche unter xf86cfg, xf86config
u. drakxconf ), wird der Bildschirm schwarz u. das System friert ein. Versuch des Wechsels auf
andere virtuelle Konsolen funktioniert auch nicht. Habe schon mehrere Farbtiefen und Auflösungen
probiert - leider ohne Erfolg. Kurzes Intermezzo mit RedHat 7.3 führte zum selben Problem.

Infos zum System:

Grafik => ATI Rage Fury Pro / Monitor => Samsung SyncMaster 950p / Athlon 700 in Asus K7V

Vielleicht weiß ja jemand eine Lösung ? Bin Linux-Neuling und hoffe auf für mich verständliche
Antworten *g*.

Angeregt durch Basti_litho, habe ich an den Monitorfrequenzen gespielt, und siehe da - es läuft. Lt. Spez. (Hardwareerkennung und OSD) sollte der Monitor 30-96 kHz horizontal schaffen, ab 90 kHz schaltet er sich aber bei startx ab ?

Hauptsache es läuft - bisher zwar nur unter 8 bit Farbtiefe korrekt - aber der Rest sollte nur noch Feintuning sein :)
